MSN has the news from the Sumo world. Yokozuna Kisenosato has announced his retirement from the world of push and pull. I follow Sumo so this is kind of heartbreaking. He was the only Naturally born Japanese Yokozuna (Fellow Yokozuna Hakuho and Kakuryu are Mongolian) and was also the newest to be named Yokozuna (or Grand Champion) being named to the position in March of 2017. He will become a stable master and starting training wrestlers now. All the best and good luck transitioning into a new role!
USA Today has the sad news of Bull Rider Mason Lowe being killed from injuries he sustained from a Bull during the National Western Stock Show in Denver Colorado. The Bull he was riding threw him and then stomped on his chest causing massive injuries to his heart. Lowe was 25 years old and ranked number 18 in the world of Bull riding. He will be missed by the fans of the sport.
Click on Detroit has the news that the first plant life to take root may be dead. The experiment on China’s Chang’e 4 probe, the first landing on the dark side of the Moon earlier this month. The experiment not only contained the plant life but also a small assortment of Fruit Fly eggs to see how they are affected by the Radiation and weightlessness of space. The power to the experiment was shut down 9 days into the experiment. There is some confusion as to why.
CBS has the news that Automotive names Hyundai and Kia are recalling 168,000 cars over an issue with the fuel pipe that may cause engine fires! It seems that this stems from a previous recall that was not fixed well and the Korean car makers are recalling the cars again to get this fix more properly this time. Yikes. Check to make sure you aren’t driving one of these cars around and make things safer for you!
TMZ has this news of former “To Catch a Predator” host Chris Hansen being arrested in Connecticut on the charges he paid for nearly $13,000 of party stuff with two checks that both bounced! “To Catch a Predator” was the NBC show where a sting is set up to catch an internet Pedophiles in the act and have them arrested before the show was canceled in 2007
Web Top News is reporting the news of the Birthing unit at St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota having a wave of new births. The Staff of the unit of the hospital brought 32 new arrivals into this world all within the last Year! Talk about a baby boom! What is even wilder, there are at least 15 more babies expected in 2019! Guess these folks know a thing or two about Babies!
In some more Sports News, ESPN reports that Gladys Knight has been tapped to sing the National Anthem at the Superbowl coming up. The singer is best known for her time with back up singers The Pips and song hit songs like “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For.” The Super Bowl this year takes place on February 3.
CBS News has the story of TV Icon Betty White turning 97 years old on Thursday. The actress who starred in a bunch of shows from her own Betty White show, Mary Tyler Moore, Golden Girls, and numerous others, says “I can credit my folks for the genes that put that together. I’m not trying to be any younger. I’m not lying about my age. If I were lying about my age, I would say I was 89.”
