Hello, again Nacho readers! It is time for another Weekly News Round Up as July has turned to August and I’m in the middle of the big heatwave. Hope wherever you are you are able to keep much cooler! Sit in front of the A/C or a fan and drink plenty of fluid if you can because dehydration and heat sickness is no fun. Now, let’s get on with the new stories from around the web!
The electric car company said it lost more than $717.5 million in the second quarter. But its cash burn rate was less than investors expected, and the company had $2.2 billion in cash at the end of the quarter. Tesla’s stock was up more than 10% at one point in after-hours trading.
CNN Money is reporting that Elon Musk’s Tesla Car Company has reported its Largest Money Loss in its history. In its second-quarter earnings report, the company admitted to losing $717 Million. It seems that despite the large quarterly loss, it still has $2.2 Billion in cash after this report. If only you and I could have the same problem right?
Apple just became the first American public company to cross $1 trillion in value. The iPhone maker achieved that big number on Thursday when the stock passed $207.04 a share. Apple is now up more than 20% this year. Shares surged after Apple reported earnings that topped forecasts and a healthy outlook on Wednesday.
CNN also has a story on how Apple has become the first American company to be worth more than 1 Trillion Dollars! Not that anyone ever thought Apple was worth chump change but someone over there is now making some serious bank. I still don’t own any of their stuff but with that kind of money, they don’t care and are doing just fine.
Look back at the wildly entertaining ring career of the late Brian Christopher, who thrilled the WWE Universe as Grand Master Sexay.
WWE has some highlights of the career of the late Brian Christopher, who died after being arrested on the 29th of June. I got to see Brian during those days both on TV and live. It’s sad that things ended how they did, but he gave us a lot of memories to remember him by, wrestling fans and general audience alike.
Look back at the incomparable legacy of WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff.
WWE also remembers 80’s Russian villain Nikolai Volkoff who died at the age of 70 on the 29th. Nikolai gave me a lot of memories from his day and a lot of stuff I was able to find later. Even though he was never the world champion, he was great in his role as a villainous Russian and overcame a lot to get there. It was sad to hear he passed but a Salute for a long career as a wrestler from me.
China’s most expensive film ever has been pulled from cinema screens, after earning just $7.1 million in its opening weekend – on a claimed $100 million budget. …
Inkstone has a bit of movie news, this time coming from China. China recently released it’s biggest budget movie yet in the fantasy adventure movie Asura. Ther movie is reported to have cost over $100 million to make and only brought back $7.1 in a dismal opening. The film is being pulled after a bomb that bad, but several of the brain trust behind the scenes of the movie say it is just going to be “re-edited” and it will get another release. I kind of want to see the movie myself after a story like that, but I don’t expect a subtitled chinses movie to get a big release here. It may come up at a science fiction convention or something.

Deadline is reporting that Netflix has acquired the movie rights to George Orwell’s book Animal Farm. The story goes on the say that Andy Serkis will direct the feature. The article also lists 6th & Idaho’s Matt Reeves, Rafi Crohn, and Adam Kassan are producers. Reeves and Serkis worked together on some of the Planet of the Ape remakes a few years back so they will be together again. I’ve read the book and seen some of the earlier television versions. It is going to be a major task making that project appeal to the masses But done right it will be amazing.

Full marks for persistence and weirdness, but it’s still a crime. Thanks to the country’s historically strict firearm control laws, police officers in Japan rarely have to worry about dealing with gun-wielding criminals.
Soranews 24 has a report about Police in Hokkaido looking into reports of a suspect attack on a Condo exterior wall with an octopus. There are a LOT of questions to be answered here for us readers and the police as well. If there is one thing that can take mind off of the heat, it’s the idea and police finding an octopus near a Japanese condo.
WALDOBORO (NEWS CENTER Maine) – Ommmm… ommmmmm… Yoga meditators, a moose, or both? The two seemingly came together as one over the weekend when a young bull moose happened upon a yoga session in Waldoboro and evidently felt inclined to join.
In a local story that is just wild, local NBC station WCSH has a video of Checka Antifonario leading an outdoor Yoga Class in Waldoboro Maine. They are then joined by a MOOSE! The moose joins in on the peace and tranquility and even relaxes a bit in front of the others. If you are ever are in need of inner peace in these chaotic times. Remember the moose and peace be with you.
That’s all for this week and remember, Keep your eyes open and keep reading!
