LaVar Ball on Why Shoes Cost $495

If you needed a reminder that LaVar Ball has an answer for every question thrown his way, here’s one: An interview with The Dan Le Batard Show on Friday after his super-crazy expensive Big Baller Brand sneakers dropped on Thursday.

When asked how Ball settled on $495, he had this to say:

“I figured that’s what the shoe is worth. I like the way it sounds. You see, when you’re your own owner, you can come up with any price you want, how high you feel it is.”

When pressed further and asked why not $500, he replied that $495 “sounds better, I like three different digits.”

The hosts pressed Ball on the $220 price tag on the brand’s flip-flops. And of course, he had an answer for that:

“Why is that excessive? Prada and Gucci [are] selling theirs for what they want. My sandal looks better than that, it feels better. … This stuff right here is symbolic. And that comes with a price. No one’s ever come into the game with their own brand. My son has his own slider and his own shoe! Before he even touched the floor as a rookie. And guess what? He designed all of it!”

If you weren’t convinced this is all a show that we’re all tuning in for, you should be by now. And it’s all ridiculous.
