A simple Google search of "How long does it take to learn a foreign language" spits back results of 2-4 months. That's it. You binge watch 12 shows during that time frame. I'm actually going to take it one step further with my daughter who's due later this year - she's going to learn English and Spanish at the same time. Works for me too!
Don't do the high school sweethearts thing during your 20's. Going through something difficult like a break-up can be extremely painful but you will come out of this experience a wiser. You’re figuring out now, rather than years down the line, that this person was not right for you.

It's four (or five or six) years that you'll cherish by meeting new people from all over the world, expand your mind academically, and be on your own for the first time with a bunch of people who are just like you.
