How Sentence Rephraser Can Relieve Your Studying in 2019

Writing exercises form part of our academic, social and professional lives. As such one needs to master the essential techniques that help them communicate better in their messages. One of these methods is rephrasing. You could use a sentence rephraser or train yourself to paraphrase correctly.

The meaning of Rephrasing

Also known as rewording sentences or paraphrasing; it is the act of reproducing another person’s ideas in your own words. In that, you convey the same meaning as the original but using different words.

Review of Rewording Techniques

You can use one or a combination of the tips below to rephrase sentences:

Change the wording. Whereby, you replace the existing word with their synonyms. Ensure that the one you settle for, best maintains the meaning as the source material. It could also refer to changing the form of the word.

Change the sentence structure. That implies, starting your sentences from different points as the original. It could be from the middle or last.

Just ensure that the structure of your new sentence doesn’t follow that of the source material. You can also apply it by changing the order of words in the document. Here, the proper nouns remain the same.

Change voice. That is, from passive to active. However, keep in mind that active voice is the best way to structure your sentences.

Why is Sentence Rephrasing Important?

To clarify meaning

Accurate rewording of content allows you to simplify the message to perhaps a less technical audience. You first, need to read and understand the original text before you can rephrase it.

It may involve re-reading the content until you get the full meaning of it. Then, you modify it into something simpler using different wording from the author.

Eliminates Plagiarism

It’s not acceptable to take ownership of things that aren’t your own. It also applies to the use of other people’s words or ideas without giving credit to the source. That is plagiarism.

To avoid this; paraphrasing allows you to rewrite the words, and prevent instances of plagiarism.

Expand vocabulary

Since rephrasing involves using different words to convey the same meaning as the source; you get to identify different words that have the same sense as the one used. Even the nearly impossible synonym, as long as it’s the word with similar meaning.

That is, you need to find a word that best passes the intended message by the source.

Demonstrate Understanding

When you accurately create your rendition of the source text, it demonstrates your understanding of the material. It only holds if you maintain the same message as the source.

Compare the two versions of the message to ensure the accuracy of your paraphrased sentence.

Backup your arguments

Many times, we build our ideas on those of another. An excellent way to incorporate both in one is by rephrasing the original idea. In that, you highlight it to provide support to your arguments.

It adds to the credibility of your ideas. More so, it sets the context for what you want to say; whether it’s for or against the author’s views.

To Rephrase or Not?

Rephrasing allows one to incorporate another person’s ideas in their work without plagiarizing the content. Also, in doing so, you get to retain the tone and style of your writing. In that, you change the source text to match the tone/ voice of your piece.
