Things You Probably Missed From The 2019 Oscars

The 2019 Oscars are wrapped, but there are so many things we didn’t really see on TV. There are also many iconic moments we had no idea happened. We did go through the news and rounded up some of the events that you probably missed but you have to know about.

Rami Malek Fell Off Stage

The winner of Best Actor accepted the award with the biggest excitement ever. What you probably didn’t see is the fact that he fell off the stage after his speech. When Rami started walking back to his seat, he somehow slipped and fell on the stairs. The medics acted very fast and took care of the situation right away. Malek was also taken backstage, where the paramedics made sure that he got all the attention he needed. The star seemed to be completely fine in only minutes and continued his night celebrating the big win. His speech on stage was definitely one of the best ones during the night, making sure that he mentioned his heritage, mother, and the Queen frontman who he portrayed in Bohemian Rhapsody. Malek is the first Egyptian to ever win an Oscar for Best Actor. His award is now a part of history.

“We made a film about an immigrant who lived his life unapologetically himself. I am the son of immigrants from Egypt. I am a first-generation American, and my story is being written right now. I cannot be more grateful to each and every one of you.”- Malek said in his speech.

Spike Lee Wins First Oscar

Did you know that this was the first Oscar for Spike Lee? The BlacKkKlansman won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He is undoubtedly one of the best filmmakers of all times. Spike made sure to deliver a very touching speech that was completely in theme with the movie he directed. The legend received his award from another legend and his very good friend Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson was obviously thrilled that Spike’s work has finally been recognized by the Academy Awards after all these years.

“Before the world tonight, I give praise to our ancestors who have built this country into what it is today along with the genocide of its native people. We all connect with our ancestors. We will have love and wisdom regained, we will regain our humanity. It will be a powerful moment. The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize. Let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing! You know I had to get that in there.”- Lee said.

Spike Lee Tried To Leave

Spike did not accept the news well that Green Book won Best Picture during the 2019 Oscars. The director tried to leave in anger right after the winners were announced. The main reason for this is the controversy and backlash that has been surrounding the movie Green Book. So many people have spoken against the main characters in the production of the film. First of all, Vigo Mortensen, one of the lead roles had to publicly apologize for a former comment when he used the N word. The director, Peter Farrelly was accused of sexual misconduct on several occasions. The word is that he used to flash his genitals to the cast who worked on his movies back in the day. The reactions from the public were harsh, so Farrelly had to do a public apology as well. But wait, that’s not the end. Nick Vallelonga also had to say he’s sorry for a Tweet he posted in 2015 that were racist and anti-Muslim.
