Stan Lee: A Real-Life Superhero And His Iconic Work

One of the greatest writers, editors, and publishers of all times, Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95. For anyone who doesn’t know who Lee is, this iconic character is responsible for some of the most epic Marvel Comics characters ever. Stan died in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, yesterday morning. The cause of death still hasn’t been revealed.

The iconic writer created amazing characters that are still among the best thing that has ever happened to the movie and comic industries. Names such as Thor, Spiderman, X-Men, Iron Man Black Panther, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Ant-Men, are just a part of the superheroes that came to life thanks to Stan Lee. Aside from being an amazing writer, Lee was also an actor, editor, and publisher. Many celebrities paid tribute to the legend on social media.

“There will never be another Stan Lee. For decades he provided both young and old with adventure, escape, comfort, confidence, inspiration, strength, friendship, and joy. He exuded love and kindness and will leave an indelible mark on so, so, so many lives. Excelsior!!”- Chris Evans shared a Tweet to express his sadness over the Marvel legend.

Stanley Martin Lieber was born on December 28, 1922, in New York. He was a part of a poor family that lived on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. His father was a Romanian immigrant, who worked in the fashion industry. They did struggle a lot financially, especially because of the Great Depression which happened during that decade. Stan got his first job when he was only 17. He was employed as a comic writer by his relative called Martin Goodman. Two years later the main editor-in-chief of the company was gone, and Lee surprisingly took over his job. At that time, he was 19 years old.

He continued working on his amazing comics for years in advance until the 60s came. Lee noticed that superhero comics were doing great among readers, so decided to create a unique story about a group of superheroes called Fantastic Four. After the huge success of the edition, the writer continued releasing a number of other epic names including Thor, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Spiderman and more. In time, he started crossing different stories and created a whole world of superheroes. This had readers even more obsessed and made them buy a whole bunch of comics to follow their favorite stories.

Everyone is convinced that Stan Lee is the main responsible person for the huge success of Marvel. In his long work life, the legend teamed up with a number of popular names such as Steve Ditko. Each and every character he introduced was more than a superhero. He delivered complex personalities who had their superpowers but struggled with everyday problems like we do.

“No one has had more of an impact on my career and everything we do at Marvel Studios than Stan Lee. Stan leaves an extraordinary legacy that will outlive us all. Our thoughts are with his daughter, his family and the millions of fans who have been forever touched by Stan’s genius, charisma, and heart.”- said Kevin Feige, the current Marvel Studios president.

The last few years were quite difficult in the life of Stan. In 2017, his wife Joan passed away. The couple was married for 69 years. Right after that happened, the legend sued POW! Entertainment, claiming they set a fraud worth over $1 billion. During the summer of 2018, there was a police report of possible elder abuse done at the 95-year-old icon. We hope he rests in peace now! Excelsior!
