The Hollywood iconic actor Burt Reynolds passed away at the age of 82. The legend suffered a heart attack at the Jupiter Medical Centre in Florida, yesterday on September 6. Reynolds went into cardiac arrest and medical professionals performed CPR for quite a while. According to his agent Todd Eisner, he was surrounded with the family. For now, that’s all the details we know. He suffered from heart problems for over a decade. Back in 2010, the actor underwent heart surgery. He recovered very soon and kept working on new projects.
Burt first became popular back in the late 60’s and 70’s when he stared in a movie called Deliverance. His first movie Angel Baby didn’t bring him fame, but after working on several unsuccessful projects, he scored the role as Lewis Medlock in Deliverance. His career spans in over 50 years, with a whopping number of more than 200 movies. After his breakout role, Reynolds was a part of many other great projects including Smokey and the Bandit, The Longest Yard, Striptease, and more. Many consider Bo “Bandit” Darville to be his best-ever performance.
There is one movie that really gave him the praise from whole Hollywood and the world as well. It’s his part in Boogie Nights. The actor scored an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe. Before filming Boogie Nights, he was fighting with prescription drugs addiction, and this role was his huge comeback after being absent for a while.
‘I still haven’t done the best work I can do. I hope I get the chance. But I’m at an age where it’s very difficult to be offered great roles. I’ve been very, very lucky through ups and downs. When you crash and burn, you have to pick yourself up and go on and hope to make up for it. Along the way, I’ve met some wonderful people. And you always run into some jerks. But that would be the same if you were working for the Ford Motor Co. It’s a tough business. Very tough. But I always tried to leave a good impression wherever we shot, and I didn’t leave any buildings burning or anything. And I’ve had a good time through it all.’- the actor said earlier this year.
Reynolds has been married twice in his life. His first wife is Judy Carne, and they stayed together for two years. The short marriage lasted between 1963 and 1965. Later in 1988, he decided to tie the knot with actress Loni Anderson. Loni and Burt started dating in 1982, and after five years, they got married in a private ceremony. Shortly after that, the couple adopted a son called Quinton Anderson Reynolds. This is the only child that the actor will ever have. But it’s not all roses in the marriage. In 1993, the duo announces their split and start one of the longest, most excruciating divorces in Hollywood history. The procedure lasted over two decades and was finalized in 2015. In the meantime, Reynolds declared bankruptcy, admitted his addiction to pills and failed to pay child support and more. He was commonly connected with other popular actresses including Farrah Fawcett and Sally Field.
Burt was cast to be a part of the upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood film, together with Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie and more. It is supposed to be premiered sometime in 2019. One of his other movies, Defining Moments is also scheduled to hit theaters in December this year.
