Here Comes the Bride: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Tie the Knot

It’s official! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot today in a mesmerizing ceremony at St. George’s Chapel. The long-awaited wedding was followed by almost 2 billion TV audience, which makes it quite a spectacle. Everyone was obsessed with this royal event, ever since Harry and the American actress announced their engagement. And the day has finally come, when we all got to feast our eyes in an opulent event with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as lead roles.

The gorgeous Meghan collaborated with Clare Waight Keller, the creative director of Givenchy, on her timeless wedding dress. In spite of the speculations that Erdem, Stella McCartney or Ralph & Russo would be designing the most popular gown of the year. The anticipation grew, and no one even expected that Markle would actually go with Givenchy. It is an iconic French luxury fashion house, but Clare is British herself.

“Ms. Markle and Ms. Waight Keller worked closely together on the design. The dress epitomizes a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952. True to the heritage of the house, the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasizes the slender sculpted waist. The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity.”- says the official statement from the palace.

The new Duchess of Sussex made history today in so many ways. First of all, she is the first bride ever, to walk the royal path to the altar on her own. Meghan walked halfway by herself and was accompanied by Prince Charles down the aisle. The magical ceremony happened at the Windsor Castle, with the way to the estate being overwhelmed by around 100,000 fans, journalists and more. The gorgeous now-royal bride donned a natural makeup look and a simple updo. She kept things minimal, with the exception of the super-long embroidered sheer train. She included a stunning tiara as a part of her look, that once belonged to Queen Mary. Nothing tops a good piece of jewelry. The whole look is so timeless, that it’s hard not to love it.

The newlyweds stood at the top of the West Steps and gave everyone a sneak peek of the first royal kiss. The stairs were decorated with white roses, Princess Diana’s favorite flowers. After the smooch, the Duke and Duchess got in an open-topped Ascot Landau carriage and took a stroll in front of the impatient audience. Shortly after that, the happy couple made their way to the private evening event in a silver-blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. Meghan changed in a simple, but beautiful white gown designed by Stella McCartney.
