Fiercest Met Gala 2018 Looks

It’s official! Another Met Gala has gone by, and we are once more still in awe of everything celebrities had to serve us. Just like many times before, Anna Wintour set the theme months before, so that all of the stars had the time to work on their looks. This time the theme of the event was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, which gave the guests plenty of material to get inspiration from. Donatella Versace, Rihanna, and Amal Clooney are the co-hosts for this year. Amal and George were the ones to open the red carpet right after Anna Wintour.

Even before the crème de la crème started arriving we all knew that Blake Lively, Zendaya, Priyanka Chopra, Rihanna will be a part of the best-dressed list.

The ultimate style queen once again served us with a look worth remembering. RiRi is definitely someone who loves taking fashion risks, so rocking a certain theme is her thing. Each year her looks only get better. You probably all remember when she shut down the Met Gala two years ago in her iconic Guo Pie yellow ensemble. The following year she appeared in a stunning Comme des Garçons dress, to honor the epic Japanese designer. Now things are only getting better. The queen once again decided to go all in and perfectly embodied the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” theme. Rihanna rocked a silver mini dress, heavily embellished. She topped it with a matching coat and a statement pope-like hat that reminds of the papal tiaras that popes wore back in the 1960s. They were all the creation of the luxury fashion house Margiela. What says better “Catholic religion” better than this iconic look. The Bajan singer has attended the fabulous event for 8 times now, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll pull off next year.

Blake Lively

This year the honors to close down the red carpet belonged to Blake Lively. And she didn’t just close it, she shut the red carpet down with an out of this world Versace gown. The gorgeous actress arrived with Christian Louboutin, who is also her close friend. He took care of the gorgeous shoes that Lively wore. The heavily embellished and embroidered Versace bodice took more than 600 hours to be made. The mesmerizing gown was done in a fierce burgundy color, completely covered with golden, red, green beads and stones. The actress finished off the look with a huge headpiece, which made her look even more like a princess. Lorraine Schwartz took care of the jewelry.

The young singer made a number of strong fashion statements on the Met Gala red carpet in the previous years. She is a real stunner wherever she appears, so it’s logical that everyone expected a lot from her. This year Zendaya lived up to her fashionista status and rocked a unique embellished silver gown by Versace. This year the popular Italian brand was the biggest sponsor of the event. So a lot of celebrities collaborated with Donatella and her team on unique looks. Zendaya channeled a modern-time Joan of Arc, with the silver number that looked very much like armor. It’s a mesmerizing long gown with a huge train and structured shoulders. The young singer even rocked a short messy bob in a reddish-brown color. The look was finished with extremely high platform sandals and plenty of Tiffany and Co. jewelry.
