Another proof that celebrities are just like us! The fact that someone is adopted should and will not prevent them from being successful. Living proof of that is Bill Clinton, who went and became a president of the United States. There are so many adopted celebrities you had no idea about. These are just a few examples of interesting stories that will really keep you intrigued.
Did you know that the former president of America was adopted? His birth father, unfortunately, passed away in a car accident only three months before he was born. Bill’s original name is William Jefferson Blythe III. Shortly after his birth, his mother left him with the grandparents Edith and Eldridge Cassidy. They took care of him for four years, before the mother came back. In the meantime, she was studying to be a nurse. When she remarried to Roger Clinton Sr., he adopted Bill. That’s how he got a brand new last name. The former president has spoken out on many occasions that adoption is a very important topic not only in his life but for the whole world as well.
“We must work tirelessly to make sure that every boy and girl in America who is up for adoption has a family waiting to reach him or her. This is a season of miracles, and perhaps there is no greater miracle than finding a loving home for a child who needs one.”
The daughter of Lionel Richie is not his biological daughter. The singer and his former wife Brenda adopted Nicole when she was 9. The girl was only 4 when her biological parents decided to leave her with Lionel and Brenda. Her first name is Nicole Camille Escovedo. The story behind the adoption is that the parents could not financially take care of the little girl and decided she would have a much better life with the mega-popular star. Her father is Peter Michael Escovedo, who was a part of Richie’s band for some time. Karen Moss is the name of her mother. The duo was friends with the Richie family, so Lionel was more than happy to help them out. The went on, signed the adoption papers, and since then, Nicole considers the singer to be her father.
“My parents were friends with Lionel. They trusted that they would be better able to provide for me.”- the fashionista once said.
Faith is one of those adopted celebrities who is very vocal about her past. Her birth mother could not take care of her, so gave Faith up when she was an infant. The country singer was lucky enough to find a family Mississippi who became her mom and dad. Edna and Ted, Hill’s adoptive parents told her that her biological mother had a relationship with a married man, which was the reason why she couldn’t keep her. Faith later found out that the mother did not have the finances or the support to keep her.
“Having been adopted, I really have a strong sense- a necessity almost- for stability, a foundation where my family is concerned. [Success] would be meaningless without anyone to share it with. I have a lot of respect for my birth mother… I know she must have had a lot of love for me to want to give what she felt was a better chance.”
