Ergonomic Tips to Help You Avoid Fatigue at Work

Your workplace and work-related habits can significantly affect your health. Working in today’s work environment, the chances are that you spend the majority of your time in front of the computer. Therefore, you are bending your body for hours. 

The human body is not made to spend so many hours per day sitting. Humans are made for walking and running. So, when you push your body toward abnormal body posture, you can experience heavy fatigue.

  • Adjustable height
  • Movement within chair

Your Monitor

First thing first, your eyes shouldn’t land in the middle of the computer screen. Why? This puts your neck in an uncomfortable position. 

Place your monitor located an arm’s length away, and your head should be slightly downward. Therefore, having a monitor with adjustable height should help enormously. 

Pro tip: If you have a classic monitor, place a few hard-cover books under the monitor. 

In a nutshell: keep your monitor between 20 and 40 inches from the eye. A table with nice depth could help this.

Lower The Wrist Pain

The weight of your arms should be supported all the time. Otherwise, your neck muscles and shoulders will be in pain the entire day. Moreover, you will need to have physical therapy for years, if you let this last for ages. 

So, make sure that you adjust your work items to serve you, not the other way around. Since you spend a lot of time in front of the screen, it’s normal that you use a mouse at that time as well. So, the keyboard and the mouse should be close enough to prevent excessive reaching, which can put an enormous load on both arms and shoulders. 

Since we use the mouse so much, wrist pain is a regular occurrence. Moreover, the pain in hands and wrists is more common than ever before. Therefore, think about the best ergonomic mouse for wrist pain, to ease inflammation in your wrist.

  • Provide comfort
  • Provide more natural hand position

  • Use a headset when you use the phone
  • Use proper lighting
  • Fight eye strain
  • Keep your foot on the floor all the time

  • Keep your arms close to your body

Last but not least, make sure that you move a lot. On every 30 minutes of work, walk 5 minutes, do some light stretches for a few minutes every hour, and stand while working. Don’t forget: if you take care of things they last.
