Hey everyone, welcome to
beautiful Greeley, Colorado.

I'm Jessica Woody.

Thanks so much
for joining us here

at the University
of Northern Colorado,

home to the very ferocious
Claw of the Bear.

Grr!

I can barely wait to get
this tour started.

Let's go!

The University of Northern
Colorado is nestled between

the snow-capped Rocky Mountains
and the sprawling high plains

of Denver and Greeley,
Colorado.

Campus is close to outdoor
recreation opportunities,

and offers more than 300
days of sunshine a year.

Wanna go for a ride?

The Rocky Mountain
National Park to the west

and Denver to the south
are both just an hour away.

Northern Colorado's campus is
250 acres of park-like setting

with 46 campus buildings.

Be careful not
to crick your neck

looking up at
Lawrenson Hall.

It's the tallest building
between Denver

and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

That's a stretch
of 150 miles.

The 17-story building
is a residence hall

for upperclassmen.

UNC enrolls over 11,500
undergraduate students

from 49 U.S. states
and 29 countries.

62% percent are female,
38% male,

and 50% are minority students.

You get a much more
intimate feel here.

You make a lot more
lasting friendships.

It's not sort of that
bigger town atmosphere,

you get to know
the people really well.

UNC has a selective
admissions policy.

The average incoming freshman
needs a minimum ACT score of 20,

SAT between 930 and 960,
and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The annual in-state tuition
is about $7,000,

and out-of-state
is close to $14,000.

Plus, cost for books, supplies,
fees, room and board,

is roughly an additional
$10,000.

The educational experience here
at UNC is a wonderful range

of independent educational
experiences, group experiences,

hands-on experiences
through practica, internship,

clinical experiences.

UNC is all about practical,
real world educational

experience so our graduates
can go out and be successful.

UNC is well known
for its music education

and jazz studies program.

Adjacent to the school
is the Skinner Music Library,

which houses more than
50,000 different music scores,

DVDs, and CDs.

Tex Ritter, "High Noon."

Hmm.

Hmm...

Hmm.

Hmm..."The Girl Who
Came to Supper."

The Northern Colorado
jazz lab has received

Down Beat magazine's award
for best college big band

and is one of only eight schools
and the very first in the world

to offer a doctorate
of musical arts,

with an emphasis
in jazz pedagogy.

UNC's Monfort School
of Business is the first school

in the United States to receive
the Malcolm Baldridge

National Quality Award.

It's given by the President
of the United States.

It's no surprise, then,
that this school has

a 95% placement rate
within six months of graduation.

The University
of Northern Colorado

employs 390 full time faculty
and 174 part time professors.

Classes are small.

Our faculty members
are terminally qualified

individuals.

No graduate assistants
teaching classes.

We have business professionals,
retired CEOs coming over

and teaching classes for us,
where they can actually

share their experiences
with the students.

The Northern Colorado
Bears compete in

the Division I athletics
Big Sky Conference.

The Bears have produced
31 individual and national

championships, three
national players of the year,

and two team national champions,
and well over 400 All-Americans.

Feeling sleepy?

Ready to study?

Make yourself at home
in one of the 16 available

residence halls.

Supposedly this place
is haunted?

This is one of
the residence halls?

Yeah, Harrison's actually
my favorite building.

A lot of people say
that it was haunted.

One of the custodians
a while back apparently

had died in the basement.

That's the story.

There's a tradition
here in Harrison

that we decorate
the basement of Harrison

and we do kind of like
a haunted house

and we invite the whole
community out.

All of the residence halls
and the Greeley community

comes out and comes
and sees the haunted house.

It's a lot of fun.

So you wanna go?

Yeah, sure.

Let's go.

We have over 150 clubs
and organizations on campus,

anywhere from
if you like Harry Potter--

which I am a self-professed
Harry Potter fan,

I'm not gonna lie--
to Ice Climber's Club.

I'm biased towards
the Greek system,

because I was involved
with a Greek fraternity.

I played intramural sports.

There's a lot of intramural
sports on campus.

It's a great campus
to get involved in,

a lot of different aspects
from cultural centers

to clubs and organizations
related around majors.

I also like to do
the Frisbee golf on campus.

We have a nine hole
golf course.

But what's really cool is that
we have a Wells-Fargo

on campus and they offer
a half-price student pass

for Winter Park
and Copper Mountain.

Like the sound of this?

If this is music
to your ears,

then the University
of Northern Colorado

would love to hear from you.

Hope you enjoyed
your VIP tour

of the University
of Northern Colorado.

You know, the high plains
that surround this campus

make the scenery
picture perfect.

It's a great place
to bring your "honey."

A nice location
to "paws" and reflect.

Oh "bear" with me,
you guys.

All this UNC pride
is rubbing off on me.

Time for me to go.

For YOUniversity TV,
I'm Jessica.

We'll catch you next time!
