What's up, guys?

I'm Ferrari St. Paul with
YOUniversity TV here

at the beautiful campus of
the University of Missouri

St. Louis, which by no surprise,
used to be a golf course.

The University of Missouri
St. Louis has a metropolitan

campus in an urban area.

Just ten minutes from the action
of St. Louis, UMSL preserves

a rich heritage of St. Louis
and Midwestern values.

Things are happening.

Nation of Festivals and, you
know, the Clayton Art Fair

and the Blues on the Levee.

I mean, it was like, okay,
just pick and choose.

And I think that, you know,
in and of itself, apart from

the fact that it's really easy
to get around in St. Louis.

I mean, if you've lived
somewhere else,

like Los Angeles, or I'm
originally from Philadelphia,

when you compare ease of getting
around, when people say,

"Meet me at so and so
in 20 minutes,"

most of the time,
you actually can.

And you can find a place
to park once you get there.

UM St. Louis is located on over
350 acres of campus grounds

that are immaculate
with rolling hills.

We're about ten minutes from
downtown St. Louis,

so the Arch, the zoo, Busch
Stadium, you name it,

there's a lot of fun down there.

We're about ten minutes
from the Galleria,

which is the largest shopping
mall in St. Louis.

Our students enjoy going there.

We have quite a few
opportunities for students

through parties, on or off
campus.

You know, the typical campus
parties that you're gonna find.

But really St. Louis has a lot
of opportunities.

Our Student Life office provides
discount tickets or free tickets

to the St. Louis Cardinals ball
games or to the Fox Theater

or to Six Flags.

Nelly's hometown is St. Louis.

So you might see him from
time to time out and about

off campus.

Other than that, St. Louis is
a good place.

You run into celebrities
all the time, just like Miami.

UMSL enrolls 13,000 undergrads,
primarily females

with the ratio of two to one.

The average class size is 26,
and the student to faculty

ratio is 18:1.

We start reviewing applications
out of 17 on the ACT,

and out of 24 on the ACT,
that's guaranteed admittance,

if students have all
the English, math, science,

social studies, all that stuff
that they need, as well.

In-state students can expect to
pay a total of about $16,000

a year, while out of staters
will pay closer to $24,000,

including room and board.

Missouri St. Louis offers 54
undergraduates, 34 masters,

and 15 doctoral degrees.

A few student favorites
are Criminology

and Criminal Justice,
Nursing, Education,

International Business,
and Psychology.

The University of Missouri
St. Louis has the only

College of Optometry
in the state and one of only 17

in the nation.

Their International Business
program has been ranked

in the top 20 in the nation by
US News and World Report

six times.

And the graduate program in
Criminology and Criminal Justice

has been ranked fourth in
the nation by US News

and World Report three times.

And if you like history and art,
UMSL is home to one

of the oldest museums
west of the Mississippi.

This is the Mercantile Museum
and library, and you might

recognize its shape.

It's modeled after the Louvre
in Paris, France.

There are 566 full-time faculty
members at UMSL.

Forty-two percent are tenured,
and over ninety-five percent

hold their PhD or terminal
degree.

You see movies and you see TV
shows and things like that

where the professor's that old,
crusty guy who stands up

in front and talks and then
you, you know, you ask him

a question and he puts you down.

But that's really not the case
at all.

They actually care about
the students, and they want

to see you succeed.

And it's not just, you know,
they have their posted hours,

you know, that they're gonna
be in their office,

and they have the time
that they're in class,

but they're always saying
every class, you know,

"If you have any problems,
come talk to us.

We are available."

You know, some of them put out
their personal phone, you know,

give you their personal phone
number and stuff, so.

And the faculty here are great.

I wouldn't trade it for
anything, that's for sure.

The UMSL Tritons are members of
the Great Lakes Valley

conference at the NCAA
Division Two level.

Students living on campus at
UMSL can choose from traditional

and suite style residence halls,
apartments and condominiums.

There are over 120 student
organizations on campus,

including Greek life, intramural
sports, philanthropic

organizations, and much more.

The Touhill Performing Arts
Center is a major attraction

for music students and musicians
in the city of St. Louis.

The St. Louis Symphony
Orchestra performs here in

the Anheuser-Busch auditorium
several times a season.

Going up?

Before we say goodbye,
I had to get a look

at the spectacular views atop
of the Gateway Arch.

It's 630 feet tall,
making the Arch the tallest

manmade monument in the country.

Check out this view.

Oh, that is so cool.

This has definitely just
made my day.

So that's it from St. Louis.

I'm Ferrari St. Paul with
YOUniversity TV.

And if you're looking for
a public school with research

opportunities right
at your fingertips,

U of M St. Louis just might be
the gateway to your future.
