'Sup guys, I'm Ferrari St. Paul
and this is YOUniversity TV,

where we put
"you" in "university."

Today we're here at
the University of Tampa,

home of the Spartans.

Come join us on our tour.

UT is located in
the heart of Tampa Bay,

which is one of the fastest
growing areas of the U.S.

and is known for its mild
winters, tropical summers,

and beautiful beaches, which UT
students can enjoy year round.

Tampa's a very dynamic town,
it's one of the fastest growing

cities in the United States.

Channelside is really close to
the University of Tampa,

that's where they have like
a lot of different restaurants,

there's also a bowling
alley there,

a movie theater,
so it's really close.

I'm here on Bay Shore Boulevard,
which is a popular place

for students to run while
enjoying the view.

Bay Shore Boulevard boasts
having the world's longest

sidewalk with a nearly four
and a half mile stretch

for bikers, skaters
and joggers to enjoy.

The University of Tampa
is a medium sized,

private university located on
approximately 100 acres

of riverfront land in the heart
of downtown Tampa.

UT is known for its unique
Moorish architectural style.

I'm standing inside
a minaret atop Plant Hall,

originally known as
the Tampa Bay Hotel,

which dates
back to 1890

as the first resort
hotel in Florida.

UT's total enrollment
is 5,600,

with approximately
4,900 undergraduates

and 700 graduate students.

Students come from 50 states
and 100 countries.

Diversity thrives at
the University of Tampa

as 22 percent of the students
are minorities,

and approximately 10 percent
are international students.

The University represents so
many countries, like so many

different countries,
so like you're bound

to meet another
international student also.

The University of Tampa
is very selective

in its application process,
accepting only 49 percent

of undergraduate applicants in
the most recent school year.

Our average SAT was 1100.

Last year our average
ACT was 25.

We do not weight GPA,
but our average

unweighted GPA
was about 3.3.

Yearly tuition and fees
for all students including

room and board
run about $28,000,

and 87 percent of students
receive financial aid.

For all you smart cookies out
there with an unweighted 3.2

cumulative GPA or better,
you can receive academic

scholarships ranging from
$5,000 to $9,000 annually.

The University offers
nearly 200 majors

and pre-professional programs
in the liberal arts,

as well as nine masters
degree programs.

Only 24 out of roughly 1,000
classes each semester

have more than 40 students.

And the average
class size is just 21.

Our classrooms are
specifically designed

so that we have smaller
classrooms so that the faculty

does have a lot more one on one
type of student engagement.

We certainly know our students
by their first name.

Tampa's College of Business,
which is one of the most elite

private schools
in the southeast,

offers one of the largest
MBA programs in Florida.

We have a management class
that all business majors

are required to take,
it's our capstone class

and it's called SAP, which is
Strategic Analysis Planning

that they do for
a live company.

This past semester
we had a group

that was doing
one from Target.

They have to
present their plan

to the Board of Directors
of the company.

Some of the most popular
undergrad majors include:

Management,
Communication,

Marketing, Psychology
and Biology.

Here in this
immunology lab,

students learn how our
immune system works.

Today I'm getting
a close-up look

at antibodies and proteins
interacting.

Let's check it out.

UT offers an intimate student
and faculty experience

with a low fifteen to one
student to teacher ratio.

Ninety percent of
full-time faculty

have a PhD or their
terminal degree.

They are devoted to teaching.

You know, it's not a research
institution first,

it's a teaching institution.

It's good 'cause it's small,
so if you have a question,

you can just raise your hand
and they know you personally.

Fourteen Spartan
athletic teams compete

at the Division II level in
the Sunshine State Conference

and have won twelve
Division II championships

in baseball, men's soccer,
golf, women's volleyball

and women's soccer
over just the last decade.

Seventy percent
of UT students

live in the ten dorms
right on campus.

Many of those dorms
were recently built

and offer all the latest
modern technology.

I actually really like
living on campus.

My roommates are great.

The living arrangements,
it's good because

we never have problems
sharing the bathroom or timing

and we have a maid that comes
like every week to clean.

Looking for stuff to do
in your spare time?

UT offers 120 clubs
and student organizations,

including ten sororities
and nine fraternities.

My fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma,
we hold a lot of events.

We're gonna have
a bone marrow drive.

There's actually someone in
the Tampa area who needs--

who has sickle-cell
and he needs bone marrow.

So we're gonna do that.

We also hold social events,
anything from pajama parties

to poetry jams.

If you're into marine life,
check this out.

The University of Tampa's
Marine Science program

and Marine Science
Center allows students

to conduct research from
the University's boats,

including a 45 foot
research vessel.

Thanks for joining us
here in Tampa, Florida

on our tour of
the University of Tampa.

I'm Ferrari St. Paul,
peace out from paradise.
