Hey what's up Youniversity TV watchers I'm Nicole Erin [assumed spelling].

And I'm Lavon [assumed spelling] and we're at Suny Fredonia. The school started off as a Teacher's College and then went on to become a Liberal Arts University.

That's right. Are you guys ready for a tour?

Sure am.

Well let's go.

The State University of New York of Fredonia is located near Western New York state near the dazzling shores of Lake Erie in the beautiful village of Fredonia noted for its historic architecture.

One of the big draws for Fredonia is the actual village of Fredonia which is a small college town, very quaint, has a lot of nice shops, it's in walking distance to the campus; a lot of students take advantage of that in their down time.

The village of Fredonia received a wonderful award as being named the most livable village in the entire Western part of New York. This is a great, great place to be.

We experience fall, summer, winter, spring so the temperature varies a lot. It's very nice in the fall; it's kind of a cool temperature. The leaves change and it's really pretty. In the winter it does get pretty cold and in the spring it starts to get nice again.

Lavon check out how cool Fredonia's 249 acre campus is. It's so beautiful with its well-kept lawns and wooded areas.

I know it's got lots of traditional modern buildings with great sculptures all around campus, like that one over there, check out that building.

Oh neat.

There are approximately 5,200 undergrads at Suny Fredonia. Nearly 10% of the student population reflects ethnic minority groups; 56% are female; 44% are male. The student to faculty ratio is 16 to 1.

Our typical student I think is someone who is inspired by the arts. Even if it's not a student who majors in the arts, we have many students who are not theater majors or dance majors but they attend events and they seem to find some home for their creative spirit here; and I find that in courses. I also teach here from time to time and I've found that students here tend to be very creative as problem solvers, as thinkers, as well as performers.

The typical applicant to Suny Fredonia graduated from high school with an 89 average and scored 1120 on the SAT exam or 24.4 on the ACT.

We subscribe to a holistic approach to admissions, we look at the overall package, and while standardized test scores for both SAT and ACT are important, we do look at the entire high school transcript, extracurricular activities, letter of recommendation and personal asset. So we're looking for that student that fits Fredonia and not just qualifies academically.

The estimated annual cost for in-state students is around $14,500, including tuition, fees and room and board. Out of state students will pay close to $21,000. Suny Fredonia offers 111 degree programs; 80 undergraduate and 31 Master's and advanced certificates. A few student favorites are music, education, business administration, and communication.

One of Fredonia's largest and most popular programs is the School of Music. It's nationally known and students get to travel all over the world to places like China and Italy. Nice and soothing--I like it.

80% of full-time faculty either hold a [inaudible] or a terminal degree in their field. Let's take a look at this classroom.

The Fredonia Blue Devils compete in the NCAA Division III athletics programs.

With 19 men's and women's teams. I can go change into my bathing suit.

Suny Fredonia offers single and double rooms in 14 corridor and suite-style residence halls and many include kitchen suites.

You are required to live in residence halls your freshman and sophomore years; but it was such a great experience that I made so many friends and like the RA's are wonderful. They end up becoming your friend as well like kind of being there to support so it was worth it.

There are over 120 student organizations on campus with a popular student newspaper and student-operated radio and television stations.

I am the President of Student Government and I got involved in it or decided to get involved in it because I really wanted to be able to help my other students, whether it was tuition or starting a club or just any different ways to get involved on campus and I thought it was a good opportunity to do so through student government.

I'm lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this unique animation class. These students are working in our project, combining and capturing movement through digital images; which eventually they'll put on the computers and make an animated movie.

So turn your talents into triumphs and come to Suny Fredonia where success is a tradition.

All the students that are here now tell me it's a wonderful place to be.

Own up to your own individuality and talent.

And rise to be a role model at the University of New York at Fredonia. For Youniversity TV I'm Lavon.

And I'm Nicole. Peace.
