Ferrari: Rated in the top tier of its region for 14 consecutive years in the America's Best Colleges issue of US News and World Report. PUC is located in Angwin, a small town in the hills above Northern California's Napa Valley. PUC is 85 miles north of San Francisco, and it's surrounded by forest and hills, just 2 hours from the Pacific Ocean.

10 minutes from the dining capital of the world. So if you're a fan of food as I am, a great place to be located. And my family it does some snow skiing, we're also into water skiing, Lake Berias [phonetic] is nearby. And they have tons of major sports teams within 1-1/2 drive away. I'm a Giant's fan, so we go to Giant's games. There's a ton to do around here, and yet you get to come back to all this, the beautiful sense of nature in the Napa Valley.

Ferrari: The campus is situated on about 1,900 acres with nearly 1,800 largely undeveloped agricultural and forestry acres. If you love the outdoors, PUC's back 40 is an awesome 1,800 acre playground just for you. You can bike or hike through the hilly terrain and beautiful redwood forest.

Studying and nursing is really, really special. And so it's nice to be able to walk outside and just go on a hike, or go rock climbing, or do something away from school.

Ferrari: PUC has an enrollment of 1,400 students on average, with close to 100 international students from Brazil, Canada, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam.

It's a, it's a really fun loving, optimistic student body.

No majority. We're all kind of equally represented, which is kind of a reflection of California. It's a microcosm in a way. And I find that very exciting.

Ferrari: Admission requirements include a 2.3 GPA on high school core subjects, and a 2.0 GPA in college transfer credits. Tuition and fees including technology fees, dorm rooms, and minimum board fees run about $28,000 for the year, or around $9,000 per quarter.

We're basically paying for tuition less than you might pay to rent an apartment, or, or pay a mortgage on a house here. And we get to enjoy all the beauty and the fun of being here in, in a world famous tourism region.

Ferrari: PUC offers a variety of bachelor's degrees, from biology to religion, and English to business administration. Choose from 34 majors with 38 emphases, teacher credential programs, 19 professional areas and master's degree in education.

We have student laboratory assistants, or laboratory instructors. In fact in the Chemistry Department we have 45 students hired. They get to run infrared spectrometers, and melting point apparatus's, and.

Ferrari: The school has an excellent reputation for pre-med programs, and a very high acceptance rate of graduates to medical and dental schools. Hoping to soar through college, students take flight to earn their pilot wings right here at PUC's college owned and operated flight center. PUC has 103 professors, 95 are full time and 44 are tenured. 36% have PHD's and a total of 53% have terminal degrees. The student to teacher ratio is 15 to 1.

I have loved pretty much every single professor I've had. It's that you are able to have a close relationship with your professors. I mean, on weekends they take us home and feed us lunch. More than your professors or you friends or your mentors.

Ferrari: PUC's pioneer's basketball, volleyball, soccer, and cross-country team compete in the California Pacific Conference. Do you want to beat the faculty? Get involved. Intramural sports on campus have all student and all faculty teams competing against one another for the big win. PUC has 3 on campus men's residence halls, and 4 women's halls. And only students over 23 may live off campus. The college has apartments for married and single parent students. And the school even has a daycare center. Expecting family or friends? PUC is ready. There is guest housing right on campus. You're guaranteed to make healthy choices at PUC [inaudible]. As part of the schools religious foundation, it's all fresh, organic vegetarian cuisine. But if you have a thing for a burger, there are plenty of places in town you can get your fix. For me it's veggies and fruit. PUC has over 25 cultural, academic, and special interest clubs, as well as honor societies and campus ministry groups. Here you have free access to exhibitions in the on campus art gallery, music department concerts, and theater performances by the Dramatic Arts Society.

We had a volunteer fire department in this area where students, and faculty, and staff end up being first responders for all sorts of fires or accidents anywhere in the area here. And we finally decided to make an academic program called Emergency Services that's geared toward being a paramedic.

I don't share the religion of the college, but I felt very accepted, very, they're very open. I'm able to be very open about my religious beliefs. And I don't feel like anything is being forced on me. You never know what you're, till you get into it when go to a religious college, but it's been a very good experience for me.

Ferrari: If you're interested, you want to check out PUC for yourself, the school will set up a personal tour of the campus just for you, have a free meal in the cafeteria, and a one on one visit with a professor in your area of interest. So if you're looking for a school that offers quality education in liberal arts and a rich Christian tradition, and you want to study in a beautiful natural setting, then be sure to check out Pacific Union College. Well thanks for joining me, Ferrari St. Paul in Angwin, California on our tour of Pacific Union College. I'll see ya later.
