Loyola University Chicago, the nation's largest Jesuit Catholic university is located in the heart of Chicago. The university consists of 4 campuses; Lake Shore, just north of downtown and located right on Lake Michigan; Water Tower, the university's downtown campus; Medical Center, home to the Loyola University Medical Center and Stritch School of Medicine; and the John Felice Rome Center in Rome, Italy.

Don't worry about having a car when you're in school, you can just hop on the train. It'll take you to world class theaters, art museums for a class.

Loyola's Lake Shore Campus, the university's main residential campus, is located in one of the most economically and culturally diverse neighborhoods in Chicago and the nation. It is right along the beautiful shore line of Lake Michigan and is just minutes from downtown Chicago and the Water Tower Campus. The LSC is also home to more than 40 buildings, including the 5,200 seat 45,000 square foot Joseph J. Gentile Center for athletics, recreation, and special events.

There are tons of different sort of first year orientation things going on throughout the first week. There's a whole week of different events. And again, we use Chicago a lot for that, so they'll be--people going to Sox games and Cubs games and different like The Second City which is an improv group.

Total enrollment at Loyola is more than 15,500 students, 65 percent women and 35 percent men representing all 50 states and 82 foreign countries. Nearly 35 percent of undergrads come from outside of Illinois.

On average, a student enrolling at Loyola has about a 3.6 GPA, about a 26 ACT or 1170 SAT and we don't include the grading portion in our requirements as of yet. And what we're looking for overall is a student that has consistency in their grades. And of course, standardized test are important and we're gonna look at them carefully. But as you'll hear often, 3 years of a student's academic career tell more about what the student can do and what the student potential is in one Saturday morning. So we're gonna look at that a little more heavily.

Undergraduate students will pay an annual cost of around 31,000 dollars toward tuition and fees plus an additional of 10,800 for room and board. Ninety-six percent of fulltime undergrads receive financial assistance from scholarships, grants, or loans. Seventy-one majors, 71 minors, 85 masters, 31 doctoral degrees, and 26 graduate level certificates are offered at Loyola University Chicago. There are also 3 bachelor degree programs for adults offered by the school of continuing and professional studies and honors programs for academically superior students. Some of the top majors at Loyola Chicago are psychology, biology, nursing, and chemistry.

Loyola University Chicago features an elite law school, a world class medical school, and a nationally ranked MBA program.

The business program in the last couple of years has won a number of awards, and we're very, very proud of that. I believe we've been ranked number 2 in the Midwestern part-time MBA program. We've been ranked number 16 in the nation in part-time programs. This is something that comes out of work and I think it's part of our brand. Again, we just don't teach how to do something, we also wanna teach why will we do that. And I think this is part of our definition, and I think what the Jesuits have done. We don't preach religion, we preach reasoning. And I think the big difference is we're trying to teach our students to reason, but we don't require them to reason just like us.

Loyola has over 700 full-time faculty members, 98 percent hold their highest degree, and 439 are tenured. The student to faculty ratio is 14 to 1.

Loyola is such a personable intimate situation where the classes aren't overwhelming. The setting is so that you have a good relationship where nothing is frightening. Everyone is there to help you out.

I was in Mertz Hall which is like 750 just college students and it's just a huge high-rise 19 storeys. So every--it's really enjoying for the freshmen students to live. In coming here, you really don't know that many people. I only know like 1 or 2 people from our high school coming here, so it gave us a great opportunity to kind of meet people from all over the country.

The university also features more than 175 student activities and organizations from sports, politics to philanthropy.

Our students are volunteering in places that are interested in changing the social structures that place people in poverty. So it's not just about going out and helping at a soup kitchen, but it's out there in the legislative offices. It's getting out there with think tank organizations. It's getting out there with policy making individuals and city government.

Many famous alumni have come from Loyola University Chicago, like Tony Award winning actress L. Scott Caldwell, actress Jennifer Morrison, and Peabody Award winning actor and comedian Bob Newhart.
