Welcome to Youniversity TV. I'm Ferrari Saint Paul here with Bedcheck Charley, the fearless mascot of Lewis University. And we are gearing up to take our tour of this campus. Let's go.

[ Music ] Lewis University is located in Romeoville, Illinois. Part of Chicago's southwest suburbs. Lewis is in one of the fastest growing counties in the country. Downtown Chicago is only 40 minutes away, giving you every opportunity to visit Wrigley Field, the magnificent mile, the Field Museum, the Art Institute, or even Navy Pier.

[ Music ] The main campus is a 375-acre picturesque arboretum. The campus is a mix of original historic buildings with modern state of the art additions featuring brick architecture and a sprawling green, complete with a pavilion, popular for student activities. The green is definitely, where you want to be if you've got some free time. LU students come here to throw down in intramural sports, break out the books to study or even just relax and enjoy nature.

We are that personal touch that many students especially today are looking for. Especially going from and transitioning from high school where you are typically in smaller classes with a much more personal approach even in the largest high school. That's what we offer our students here.

Lewis enrolls 3300 traditional undergraduates. 58% women and 42% represent 30 states and 20 countries. 30% are of color, making it one of the most diverse universities in the region. Lewis is a selective institution.

The average ACT for our incoming freshmen is about 22 and the average incoming GPA is about 3.1 but when we're looking at applicants, we're looking beyond the numbers. Their involvement in the school, church, community, whatever the case may be.

All students will pay a yearly tuition fee of about 22000 dollars with an additional charge of 8000 dollars for room and board.

[ Music ] Lewis offers close to 80 academic programs. A few student favs are business, athletic training, forensic criminal investigation, nursing, and education.

You know 75% of people that come to Lewis are better equipped for getting a job because of all the programs and all the equipment that we get to use here.

It's really fun, it's hands on, you learn kind of the tricks of the trade. You get to be in front of the news desk as well as in the control room, working the cameras, cutting between shots. You're also in the radio station, producing a show, being the host of a show, running the board.

You are listening to the Star, 88.1 FM, WLRA, Lewis University in Romeoville.

Lewis is student run radio station, WLRA, was the first in the country to go all digital and is now streamed live via the web. All of Lewis's classes are taught by one of the 180 full time professors who bring real world background and experience into their classrooms.

One of the reasons that I love Lewis University is because the students to faculty ratio is so small which provides a lot of personal time for me to get with my professor or my advisor. I can get all the time I want and I don't have to worry about fighting with a ton of other students for it.

The Lewis Flyers offer 18 different NCAA division 2 sports for men and women. School spirit is seen every week on the Flyer Red Fridays. There are 11 residence halls on campus that house close to 1200 students. All the halls are coed and students have the option to live on campus or commute. LU has over 35 student clubs and organizations including social and academic fraternities and sororities, many of which are recognized on the national level. Other opportunities to get involved are community service, ministry work or academic based organizations.

I am a member of the Latin American Student Organization. So we always try to bring our culture onto campus to make students aware of different things that our heritage has to offer. We always have different events where we bring our food, our culture, our music, our clothing.

We want them to experience the full college setting, not just the academic, but everything that we offer outside of the classroom so that they walk away feeling wow, I had a very unique and cherished experience here at Lewis.

Be a flyer, fly high. Literally. LU has its very own airport right on campus. Students actually pilot the planes.

[ Music ] Let's fly Charlie.

The aviation program is great. There's not many schools in the US that have it. But Lewis University is fortunate to be so close to Chicago that we have both opportunities at Midway and O'Hare. And the aviation opportunity is afforded to us, give us the ability to learn how to, how the administration works inside the aviation market. It also teaches professional pilots and professional maintenance.

So, if you want to get your education at a school with winning faculty and a prime location near the windy city, they fly high at Lewis University. Well, that's the end of our tour at Lewis University. Thanks for hanging out and I hope you had fun. Bedcheck Charlie is going help Matt and I get off the ground. And I'll see you on the next trip.
