Hey, guys.

Thanks for joining us here
at Utah Valley University.

I’m your host Shayna
here with Albert and Willy.

Let’s go.

Utah Valley University
is located in Orem, Utah

tucked between a beautiful lake
and the Wasatch Mountains.

We’re only about 45 minutes
from Salt Lake City

so it’s, it’s very
close in vicinity

to a large metropolitan area.

Twenty minutes away you can
go skiing and snowboarding

you can also drive
15 minutes and go boating,

go down to Southern Utah
and there’s sand dunes

and the Rocky Mountains.

There’s like everything all
really close to this campus.

UVU is located on
a 308-acre campus

with open green spaces
and tons of beautiful fountains.

Plus, all of the buildings
on campus are connected

making it easier for you
to trek across campus

if you don’t want to be
too hot or too cold outside.

But I think the Utah air
is beautiful any day.

I have no idea what we’re
doing on these rafts.

We are in the commons area,
the quad as we like to call it.

At Utah Valley University
we have this wonderful

lovely waterfall here.

Very beautiful.

It’s just kind of a nice
chill area for students

to hang out and catch some sun.

Utah Valley enrolls more
than 23,000 students.

57% are male and 42% female.

Nine percent of the
student body is multicultural

with students representing
55 foreign countries.

Students here are
very open, very friendly.

You just walk down the hall
everyone gives you a smile.

Very easy to get along with
and very, just close knit,

we come together a lot.

UVU has open enrollment
and accepts all students

who apply to the school.

The average ACT score
of incoming freshmen

is around 20.

Students are required
to take placement tests

to be sure they’re positioned
in classes most beneficial

to them.

UVU annual tuition and fees
for Utah residents

is roughly $4,000,
while non residents pay

close to $12,000.

This library is nearly
200,000 square feet

and as you can see,
is five stories high.

It not only houses
UVU’s book collection,

there’s also classrooms,
computer labs, an auditorium,

art exhibits and the best part,
there's a cafe located

on the first floor.

Can I get you a latte?

Utah Valley offers 57 bachelor
and 65 associate degrees,

22 certificates or diplomas
and one masters degree

in education.

The most common majors are
business management,

behavioral science, nursing,
and elementary education.

With the psychology
program we are required

to take research classes
so we have been able

to do a lot of hands on
research with the students.

We’ve also been able
to have the opportunity to be

research assistants and be
able to work one on one

with the faculty and what
they’re doing.

The Death Studies program
offers one of the few

bachelors degrees in the nation
and serves as host

for the Death Studies
Today conference

and the University has the third
largest aviation program

in the United States.

But perhaps the thing
that UVU is best known for

is its focus on trades.

UVU is the second
largest provider

of trades education in
Utah like dental hygiene,

automotive technology,
and cabinetry.

I love ice cream,
I love ice cream.

So I thought I could
sneak away from you guys

for a few minutes but obviously
you caught up to me.

I don’t care, though.

I’m gonna eat my ice cream.

UVU has nearly
1,500 instructors,

453 are full time and nearly
half hold a PhD.

Because the school
is growing so quickly,

new faculty is bringing fresh,
new ideas to the classroom.

In addition to the
beloved professors

who’ve been teaching
at VU for 20 plus years.

The faculty here are some
of the very best in the country

and they’re here
because they love to teach,

they love that
interaction with students.

They also really enjoy the one
on one that they can have

because of the small classes.

Whether it’s a river run
or going and,

and going out under
the stars for astronomy,

we have all kinds
of opportunities

for faculty and students to,
you know, get outside

of the classroom and meet.

The Utah Valley
Wolverines compete

in the Division I
Great West Conference

including the state’s only
collegiate wrestling team.

Plus, UVU is the first
university to ever jump

directly from the NJCAA
to the NCAA.

Former Wolverines
basketball star Ronnie Price

was the first player in history
to be directly drafted

from Utah Valley to the NBA.

He was a proud member
of the Sacramento Kings

and now he plays
for the Utah Jazz.

Ohhh!

Although there is no
on campus housing,

many apartment complexes
offer free shuttle service

to get you to and from class.

If not within walking distance
of the nearby shuttle service

you can get a Utah
Transit Authority bus pass

for only $5 per academic year
with your valid student ID.

So if you’re taking a stroll
along Courtside Avenue

you’ll notice tons
of different food options

for you to chose from.

There’s a cafeteria upstairs
and little deli cafes down here.

There’s student affairs.

I’m gonna go
check out the bookstore.

Come on.

UVU has more than
80 clubs and organizations

to become involved
in ranging from social

to political clubs.

The first of each year we
have the UV experience

where it gives the chance,
students the chance

to come find out everything
going on here on campus

in the valley, all
the services available.

So it gives the students
the chance to say,

“Okay, this is what’s
happening here on campus,

this is what I want
to get involved with,

the different activities
and events.”

We’ll kick that off
with a drive in movie.

Okay guys, let’s check out
and see what they have

to offer for intramural sports.

We’ve got a
midnight 5K run/walk,

I’ll definitely be sleeping.

Singles tennis tournament,
I’m not single.

Disc golf league, now
that could be interesting.

Let’s go see if I can get some
more information.

Build up the courage
and join the pack today.

Go Wolverine at
Utah Valley University.

Ah, Willy!

Well guys I can’t
believe we did it.

Willy, you were
an awesome tour guide,

thanks for taking us
around today.

See you guys next time.
