Hey, everyone; I'm Levon [assumed spelling]. This here's Titus and we're checking in from California State University Stanislaus, home of the Warriors. Come with us as we take a tour of the campus. California State University Stanislaus is in the heart of central California's sunny San Joaquin Valley. Within just an hour drive, you can experience excellent skiing, hiking, whitewater rafting, boating, and camping.

A great location, you know; we're two hours from the ocean, two hours from San Francisco, two hours from Tahoe, two hours from Yosemite, and so we're very close to different activities.

Get your fill of the outdoors and the wildlife without even leaving campus. CSU Stanislaus is recognized for having the most beautiful and safest campus in the state. This is the life.

It's beautiful; there's a lot of good, good places to study and good places to just hang out, and I think it makes it a very relaxing and comfortable place to study.

Christian Review ranks Stanislaus as one of the nation's best 368 colleges. Over the past seven years, freshman enrollment has increased by 70 percent to more than 8,800 students; 33 percent men and 66 percent women.

We're looking for a student coming out of a California high school, 3-point grade point average, test scores in the range of 1,000 and finishing the core from high school. And so, it's the upper third percent of the high school graduates in the State of California. For a student out of state, we're looking at a little bit better grade point average, a little higher test scores.

Annual fees for students who live in California are close to $4,000, and for out-of-staters about $14,000. All students living on campus pay roughly $9,000 extra for their room and board. CSU Stanislaus offers 42 undergraduate programs, 23 master's degrees, and seven post-graduate credentials. In addition, a doctor of education degree can be earned in an educational leadership program.

You do a lot of fieldwork with little kids. You go to different school sites and do observations and help out with the kids in the classrooms.

The most popular majors are business administration, nursing and teacher education. CSU science programs are nationally ranked, and it is the only campus in the system to offer a bachelor's degree in cognitive studies.

Try your green thumb at Stanislaus bio-ag site. Students use the outdoor laboratory for environmental research. They even grow their own vegetables to donate to the local homeless shelter.

The undergraduate student to faculty ratio is 19 to one, and the average class size is 24 students. Stanislaus offers great opportunities for mentoring relationships, with 516 faculty members to learn from, 85 percent of which have tenure, their doctorate, or other terminal degree.

A lot of the works that are done by the professors here are nationally recognized. For instance, in the Department of History, they have eight full time professors; and out of the eight full time professors, seven professors have books that have been published by university presses. And that's a much higher rate than you'll find at a lot of research universities.

The University Warriors field 13 NCAA Division II men's and women's teams.

Stanislaus is definitely in the swing of things. Their men's golf team won 13 national championships at the Division III level before moving to the Division II level in 1989.

Fore!

The Villages modern on-campus housing complex houses 663 beds, featuring both apartments and suites, giving the students a choice between sharing a room or living alone.

I went and looked at a lot of dorms around California, and this was definitely by far the best. It was one of the only places where I was allowed to have my own room. It was a very nice facility, like the swimming pool, volleyball nets and basketball courts.

I stayed in the dorm my freshman year and I met so many people, so many RA's and just met; really learned how to get, get comfortable with the campus and be comfortable with my classes.

The university has more than 75 student clubs and organizations, including 15 fraternities and sororities with over 300 members. CSU Stanislaus was the first California State University campus to offer a one month winter term to give students the opportunity to participate in classes that involve field trips to places like Death Valley, Mexico and other exotic destinations for research and on-site study.

So, if you're looking for a school where you can be one with nature on campus and off, while still receiving a great education, be sure to check further into California State University Stanislaus.

Hope you guys had as much fun as I did on our tour of CSU Stanislaus. But for now, we've got to go. For YouniversityTV, I'm Levon; this is Titus. We'll see you soon.
