What time is it?

It's YOUniversity TV time,
where we put you in university!

I'm Ferrari St. Paul
and we are here

at the University
of Colorado-Denver,

a four-year public
research university

set against the breathtaking
backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.

UC-Denver is located near
downtown Denver, Colorado,

which is a vibrant metropolitan
city offering a wide variety

of professional, recreational
and cultural opportunities.

Denver is also
the state capital.

When you go downtown,
there's always something

happening, especially since
we're so close right here

to the performing arts center,
to the convention center,

we have LoDo,
we have 16th Street Mall,

so we have all of that,
which is literally, like,

five minutes from walking
from the classroom.

UCD's campus covers 126 acres
next to Cherry Creek.

Get a rich education
here at UC-Denver.

The gold rush in
the Rocky Mountain area

started here at Cherry Creek.

The first piece of gold was
discovered in the mid-1800s.

Tree-lined walkways and green
spaces highlight the campus.

In fact, there's a priority
placed on green sustainability,

with wind power producing
a substantial portion

of energy for the school.

The Anschutz Medical Campus,
which is a new healthcare city

covering 227 acres,
is located just eight miles

to the east and houses
the health sciences school,

the graduate program,
and research enterprise,

which exceeds $350 million.

My other choice
actually was Boulder,

but when I came here
to see the campus,

I really liked this campus
when I came,

and I liked the fact that
it's close to downtown

and you have
everything close,

as Boulder,
it's just the university

and that's pretty much it.

The University of
Colorado-Denver

enrolls about 12,700 students
at the downtown campus

with a ratio of 57% female
to 43% male,

and the average age
of the undergraduate

student body is 24.

We have an extremely
diverse population,

not just in ethnicities,
but in age, too.

In my class,
there are 17-year-olds

to 65-year-olds.

I had a class
with an 85-year-old

who decided to come back
to get his college degree.

It was really cool.

Freshmen looking to apply to UCD
are reviewed by several factors.

There are certain routes
that one can take

coming out of high school.

It depends on the GPA
and their test scores,

and also, we do have a program
with several community colleges,

if they wish to go through
the community college ranks

and then make their way here.

Tuition for Colorado residents
is a great value

at around $5000 per year.

And tuition for out-of-staters
runs about $17,000 per year.

Room and board costs
are approximately $7300.

I just looked around at
the different animation programs

that were available
here in Colorado,

and it was pretty much
the UC-Denver

or Rocky Mountain College
of Art and Design.

The UC-Denver is
definitely the cheaper one

and you get more for your money.

Students of the University
of Colorado-Denver have

lots of career choices with
more than 80 degree programs

to choose from that
cover a wide variety

of fields and disciplines.

Only 7% of classes have
more than 50 students,

which makes for a good
learning environment.

Some of the most popular majors
at the UC-Denver include

business, psychology, biology,
and pre-health professions.

Students actually get credit
for going out into the workforce

and doing jobs,
if you will, that relate to

what they're learning
in the classroom.

Faculty members at UCD
are some of the best around

and experts in
their field of study--

not to mention that
4 out of 5 hold a Ph.D.

or the highest attainable
degree in their field.

The faculty are top-rate
research scholars,

so they all have Ph.D.s,
they engage you with

the theoretical knowledge
you need to succeed,

and then blend that with
your own past experience

or the experience of
students in the class.

Plus, with a low
student-to-faculty ratio

of just 15:1,
students are able

to get the individualized
attention they need

to be successful in the future.

They really want to know
what's going on in my life,

not just academically.

They're curious about
my social life and my friends

and how I'm settling here.

They're curious about whether
or not I'm snowboarding

on the weekends
or learning to ski, if I'm--

how I'm settling in
with the weather.

Fully furnished apartment-style
campus housing is available

for about 700 students
at Campus Village,

which opened in late 2006.

Students have all
the conveniences of home

and can make new friends
in a residential setting.

Get a taste of
the Real World: Denver.

The hip MTV show is filmed
right here in LoDo,

a.k.a. Lower Downtown.

Just in case you're
looking for stuff to do,

UCD has everything
from ski trips

and renowned guest lecturers
to internationally-acclaimed

film festivals
and poetry readings,

just to name a few.

In addition,
60 clubs and organizations

give UCD students a chance
to get involved on campus

and have fun at the same time.

UC-Denver puts
an alternative spin on music.

Their unique program
focuses on recording arts

and music business.

I'm rockin' out here
in the studio

where The Fray got their start.

Some of their major hits include
"How to Save a Life"

and "Cable Car."

So if you're looking for
a great college experience

on an environmentally
conscious campus

in a progressive city offering
lots of great activities

and beautiful scenery,
be sure to check out

University of Colorado-
Denver today.

Time to hit the tracks.

Getting to and from campus is as
easy as riding the light rail.

I'm headed downtown to check out
the sights and sounds of Denver.

Thanks for joining us
on our tour of

the University of
Colorado-Denver.

I'm Ferrari St. Paul
with YOUniversity TV,

and I will catch you
on the flip side!
