It’s a great time to be a fan of Florida Gators football right now! We are watching one of the best college football players of all-time in Tim Tebow and their defense is dominating! No one has yet figured out Urban Meyer’s spread offense and the flat-out speed that the Gators have! Some critics said before the LSU win last week, that they haven’t faced anyone that matters including two cupcakes to start the season. Then they tamed the LSU Tigers with a banged-up Tebow. Critics, are you still out there?

‘Bama is dominating college football just as much as the Gators. It's hard to figure out what was most impressive about Alabama's 22-3 win at Ole Miss - the offense was very efficient and the defense was suffocating. These two teams should be meeting in the SEC Championship in what will be an old-fashion barnburner!

Virginia Tech and the USC Trojans are two more schools on the YOUniversityTV series that are having a great first-half of the season. The Hokies handled Boston College last week and it wasn’t even close, 48-14. USC, even after an early season upset loss to Univ. of Washington, are amongst the top 5 schools in the country.

“Outsiders” still coming up short
Each week I follow YOUniversityTV featured schools against the “Outsiders”, non-YOUniversityTV schools. The total wins for this season is 157 for YOUniversityTV schools and 123 for the “Outsiders.”

Stayed tuned for next week’s blog and I encourage any comments and suggestions for the blog!

As we soon approach the halfway mark of the 2009 college football season, I want to take a look at some key performers of featured schools on YOUniversityTV.
Let me first start with the most surprising team, and my hometown team, University of Miami. After several years of mediocre, “The U” is officially back on the college football map! The grueling four game gauntlet to start the season is over and they came out 3-1. They started the season beating rival Florida State in Tallahassee. This was the Jacory Harris break-out party. The sophomore quarterback threw for 386 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Hurricanes past Florida State 38-34 in a wild, back-and-forth game. Then there was last week versus pre-season National Championship favorite Oklahoma Sooners. Harris survived a shaky start to throw three touchdown passes, Javarris James ran for a career-high 150 yards against the nation's top rush defense, and Miami knocked off Oklahoma 21-20 in what will join some games from the 1980s as another Hurricanes-Sooners classic.
Before the season, the critics said if the Hurricanes go 0-4 in those games, “Coach Shannon is out the door”. Many Hurricane fans replied, but if Hurricanes go 2-2 “it’s time to re-new (Shannon’s contract as head coach)”. Well, they went 3-1 and are still in the hunt for a National Championship. Can you say… “3-1, bring back the swagger for some fun?!”
Other YOUniversityTV schools leading the way this football season are Univ. of Alabama and Univ. of Florida (no surprises here!). Bama shows up for every game and dominates every facet of the game. Tim Tebow’s injury may slow UF down a little, but look for the team to step up their game against LSU on Saturday. Virginia Tech and Auburn are over-achieving, but the Hokies looked great against Miami and Auburn has the perfect balance on offense – averaging about 250 yards each in rushing and passing.

Outsiders” still coming up short
Each week I follow YOUniversityTV featured schools against the “Outsiders”, non-YOUniversityTV schools. The total wins for this season is 142 for YOUniversityTV schools and 104 for the “Outsiders.”
