Hey guys, Sheana here. We're about to kick our tour off at Midwestern State University but first I need coffee. Thank you. MSU is located in Wichita Falls, Texas close to tons of shopping and entertainment centers. So I'll definitely be here in this mall after the tour.

Midwestern is halfway between Oklahoma City and Dallas-Fort Worth and it's just 16 miles from the Oklahoma border. The university's campus spans 179 acres with nearly 50 signature rhetoric building.

Midwestern State University enrolls about 6000 students. 34 percent of the student body is of ethnic background. The student to faculty ratio is 19 to 1.

Well the class size has been small as they are. You have that one on one interaction with the professors which was usually a good thing. By the second week of school, professors are learning your names and there's that personal interaction. That's one of the great things.

We have a summer orientation and early registration program called the "Spirit Days" which is an excellent opportunity for new incoming student to become acclimated to the university, getting early jump on registering for classes. It eases their transition, I think from high school to the university because they feel a little more comfortable with what they're doing in the fall--in the fall semester rolls around.

For students who come to college without a major in mind, we have an academic support center that advises students and helps them stay close to their core classes so once they decided upon a major--those courses and plug right in to a degree.

On your way to class, you might pass by this piece a life size history. It's an exact replica of the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. It was hand crafted in France and traveled all the way here to Midwestern State.

MSU uses the applied Texas application in their admission process. Incoming freshmen hold a composite ACT score ranging from 18 to 24 and a combined SAT score between 870 and 1110. Students coming from Texas can expect to pay about 6000 dollars a yearly in tuition and fees, those coming from out-of-state will pay around 7000, and international students will pay close to 15,000 dollars. Room and board is an additional 6000.

I think that students are choosing Midwestern today are more based on the quality and the cost of education. In 2007, we remained the Consumer's Digest, number one Best Value in Public Universities in the United States, and we still hold that title today.

Midwestern State offers more than 40 majors in programs and study. The most popular majors among students include business, nursing, and education.

I've had tons of experience in the classrooms. And so it's kinda nice because you got to figure out and that's something you really wanna do after being around kids and so it's something I really enjoy. And the hands-on experience you kind of get figure out--they kind of teacher you want it to be.

In the chemistry department, we have what is called the Welch program in chemistry and that's a program for undergraduates to do research with the faculty. And I have two students working with me this semester and those students are subcloning a gene that's involved in melatonin biosynthesis.

This is part of our energized lab for the radiologic science program. We teach our associate students. We practice here because we use radiation. We practice here on phantoms, on simulated human anatomy and parts and they make their mistakes here and then they go into the hospital and they can--as part of the clinical practice and fine tune their skills there.

If you're considering art as your major, you won't have to go far to check out some incredible pieces. The Wichita Falls Museum of Art is located right here on campus.

Midwestern employs 224 full-time faculty members, 64 percent have a terminal degree, and 51 percent are tenured.

They have a lot of caring professors who really want to see them succeed and who will work with them very well to give them the best opportunity possible. Of course, it's up to the students to do well but we want to make sure that they have every opportunity possible to succeed.

The Midwestern State Mustangs competed in the Lone Star Conference at the NCAA division 2 level.

As a freshman, living on campus is required. But have no fear the residence homes are pretty awesome. We have four dorms and then we have an apartment complex. And we have an all boys dorm, all girls dorm, and then a coed dorm. And there are tons of activities to do. We--each RA, you can do different programs and we have ping-pong take off in the hallways to--pajama night. So we all know there are a billion things to do on a college campus, but I thought we'd have a better idea if we check up the student centers bulletin board. We got books for sale. Oh, do you have a voice? We wanna hear it. One act please, artwork? Artworks more Nicole. Unless we call green light. If you love art of making films, join the movement and get a chance to work behind the scene. I love making films, I'm gonna call Derek [phonetic] right now.

So tell me a little about the Rec Center?

Well the Rec Center was renovated just a few years ago, so they have--always had like a pretty good ear for what the students are wanting and actually these two video games behind us was added this year, this semester actually. There's always students congregating in this place. This Rec Center houses are two cafeterias, the cafe type [inaudible] eateries.

Ken [phonetic] and Peter, I love never, never land. Alright if you guys pass the Liberty Bell on the school you haven't seen anything yet. Welcome to MSU [inaudible] Fantasy of Light. A longstanding Midwestern tradition, where the community comes to campus to check out the holiday display. Alright, so I've got some lights to see. Thank you so much for tagging along on our tour of MSU where your academic fantasy can become a reality. I'm Sheana for Youniveristy TV. See you next time. Reindeer!
