Hey what's up? I'm Ferrari St. Paul and this is Youniversity TV where we put you in university. Today we're here at Loyola University, New Orleans. It's a Catholic institution founded by a Jesuit. The Loyola University is located in the uptown section of New Orleans, Louisiana, about 15 minutes away from downtown and the French Quarter.

New Orleans in general is such a unique city. Like there's things here that you will never get anywhere else.

We have activities like Jazz Fest, we have Voodoo Fest, famous Mardi Gras, it's always there and that's a big there. You have the swamp tour. You can do the haunted house mansion tour and the riverside tour.

Loyola's scenic 19-acre main campus features a collection of beautiful Tudor Gothic buildings mixed in nicely with modern architecture. Loyola University enrolls nearly 5,000 students including more than 2,700 undergraduates. Students come from all 50 states and 41 foreign countries.

I really like the idea of social justice, the involvement in the community, also it's really filled with Jesuit ideal is education of the whole person not just one subject but a core curriculum of lots of different subjects and also working at a community and things like that.

Incoming Loyola students average at 3.55 GPA and the middle 50 percent average between 23 and 28 on the ACT or between 1080 and 1320 on the SAT.

We wanna see a resume of activities. We wanna see what the student's been involved and what type of leadership goals have they taken on. We wanna know that we're bringing in students who can be a success here at Loyola and ultimately see them through the graduation.

Tuition for all students runs just under $29,000 dollars per year. Room and board cost for students that live on campus are about an additional 9,000 dollars per year.

Jazz up your college experience, Loyola's College of Music could be the key to your music career. The school is fully accredited and located in New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz.

Loyola University offers 60 undergraduate degree and 10 master's degree programs in five colleges including Humanities and Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Business, Music and Fine Arts and Law. Some of the university's most popular majors include International Business, Music Industry Studies, Journalism, Biology and Pre-Med.

If they say Loyola, they've got a foot in the door because Loyola stands for excellence.

The communications department really, really strives for you to get an internship.

They call me all the time from news stations asking me if we have students. They send us scholarship and fellowship information from everywhere. We have people in radio, we have people in public relations and advertising, all over town, all over the country. We have some of the best students in the world.

As a sophomore, I've got an internship with a prestigious website NOLA.com and I don't think I could've gotten that without my teacher's help or Loyolan's help.

Wanna get away? Loyola offers over 40 study abroad programs for undergraduates wishing to see the world. The student to faculty ratio is 11 to 1 and 91 percent of the faculty hold a PhD or the highest degree in their field. Loyola professors have been recognized both nationally and internationally by the Pulitzer Committee, the National Science Foundation and numerous other professional and scholarly associations.

Put your paws together for Havoc, the Loyola wolf. The women's basketball team is the gym. They are just 1 of 7 Wolfpack teams that complete at the division 1 level in the Gulf Coast Conference. Students who live on campus have four residential to choose from. Housing nearly 1400 students, so staying close to classes and all the activities on campus is no problem.

I really enjoy campus life. I definitely recommend it to anyone especially for the first 2 years so that's like being on campus, living on campus, you're like in the mix of everything. You don't miss out on opportunities. You're right there.

Speaking of activities, Loyola University offers more than 120 student organizations including 15 Greek chapters and a full calendar of special events throughout the year including concerts and celebrations on campus.

Loyola is always fun. We always have a lot of activities. We have third Friday every month, which is pretty much in the quad, we have a party, we have bands playing live. That's like a lot of universities don't do it and Loyola just takes care of like making their students feel at home.
