Hey guys, this is
YOUniversity TV.

I'm your host
Shayna Jean,

and we're at Kennesaw
State University,

which is the third largest
university in the state.

Come join us on our campus tour.

Wow, it actually
looks really good.

Kennesaw State University is
in the suburban neighborhood

of Kennesaw, Georgia,
right next door to Atlanta,

with mountains
and recreational opportunities

only an hour's distance.

Um, you get to go
just walk downtown.

You have several different
places where you can

just lounge and eat.

It's really a great, great city.

Kennesaw State is located in
Cobb County on a beautifully

landscaped and pedestrian
friendly campus of 240 acres,

with an easy access to
the Northwest quadrant

of Georgia.

The university enrolls more
than 22,000 students

from 142 countries
and 67 degree programs.

The student to faculty
ratio is 23:1

and the average
class size is 31.

Sixty percent of the student
body is female,

and minorities count for
21% of the total population.

We're very diverse.

We have students from,
like, all over the world.

Um, and they take pride
in our school.

We have a lot of people attend
our, um, KSU events

and our sports.

We have a really good
hockey team that I'm proud of.

Freshman admission requires
a 950 combined minimum

on the SAT and will honor
a minimum ACT composite

score of 20.

The average grade point average
minimum is 2.5.

Well, we look at three things.

Um, we look at their
high school GPA.

We look at they have completed
all their college prep units.

And we look at their SATs
or ACT scores.

Those three components
are the most important for

admissions into KSU.

In-state students' yearly
tuition including fees

is about $5,300,
and out-of-state is $14,000.

Housing costs range between
roughly $5,000 and $7,500 a year

depending on the set-up,
suite amenities,

and number of roommates.

KSU now offers 67 degree
programs from the Bachelor's

level on up to two Doctorates.

Just a few of student favorites
are Early Childhood Education,

Management, Biology,
Nursing, and Psychology.

Our courses here at Kennesaw
State comprise a minor

in Applied Statistics
and Data Analysis.

It's actually become the most
successful minor

in the history
of our university,

and we're really proud of it.

And we get this beautiful
cross-section, a mosaic,

of students from
all over campus.

So no matter what your major is,
when you get to Kennesaw,

you'll live and learn with other
first year students.

Hey, Shannon.

Hey, how are you?

I'm great.

So you're a sophomore.

Can you tell us a little bit
about the learning community?

Yes, when you first
get to Kennesaw,

during your orientation,
you register for classes

with people and it's
related to your major.

And basically, you see those
same people for two to three

classes every day.

And it's just a lot better
because you can study with them,

and they're a lot closer,
so you don't have to drive

for your study group.

And if you miss class,
there's always somebody there

that can catch you up.

Thirty-eight percent of KSU
faculty members have

their tenure degree,
43% are tenure track,

and nearly 3/4 of faculty hold
a PhD or terminal degree.

The Kennesaw State Owls are
an NCAA Division I school

in the Atlantic Sun conference,
featuring a broad range

of intercollegiate athletics.

Hey, come on in.

The more the merrier.

Additional roommates will
reduce your housing costs

and increase
your social network.

All right, come on in,
everybody.

Let's see how many people
we can get in here.

Oh, I think we've got
one too many.

I'm so...

But I thought we were friends.

I'm so sorry.

Perfect.

Awesome.

KSU club sports
and intramurals are huge.

You can play ice hockey,
rugby, lacrosse, and more.

And when you're not busy on
campus, you can explore Atlanta,

which is one of America's
fastest growing cities.

It's as easy as hopping a bus
at the campus CCT stop

and riding it to the nearest
MARTA train station.

Where's that bus?

So head to Kennesaw
State University

and explore the endless
educational opportunities

awaiting you.

As for our final stop today,
it's a popular student hangout

in Kennesaw.

Now, I know you'd expect to find
Mexican, but students say

TacoMac has the best
wings and burgers.

Later, guys.
