UM, come to our school.

Welcome to University of Mobile,
which is a private Christian

university and has been listed
as one of America's best

Christian colleges for 11
consecutive years.

UM is located in Mobile,
Alabama, known for its exquisite

cuisine, rich history
and culture, and its reputation

for being one of the most
gracious cities in the South.

The University of Mobile's
800-acre campus is located

just ten minutes from downtown
Mobile, Alabama and just an hour

from white sand beaches.

Golf, museums, and great eating
are just some of the many things

this area has to offer.

We're just like any other town
with 300,000 people.

We have a mall,
lots of places to eat.

In a short ride, you can be
at the beach.

There's a lot of history
around Mobile.

We have the USS Alabama here.

People will be surprised
at the diversity they find.

Because you can choose,
within about thirty minutes

to an hour drive, a lot
of different places

to go and things to see.

It's really beautiful.

UM has approximately 1600
students from 29 states

and 24 nations.

The student body is 63% female
to 37% male and minority

students make up 28%.

I think students are attracted
to the university because it is

a family type environment.

It's a small university where
they can have personal attention

from professors and faculty
members.

In order to be considered for
admission at the University

of Mobile, students need
a minimum ACT score of 21

or SAT score of 980, and a GPA
of at least 2.75.

All students can expect to pay
just under $21,000 a year

for tuition fees, plus room
and board.

In case you were wondering,
97% of students receive some

form of financial aid
assistance.

When you're looking at
a college, it's more important

to look for the value,
the complete value that you're

gonna get as opposed to just
the amount of money you're

going to be shelling out
and staying closer to home

in an environment
you'd prefer to be in.

Because I would never come
down here any other time.

And it's been a surprise that I
could actually find such a great

home somewhere completely
different from home.

The University of Mobile offers
44 study programs.

Undergraduate programs
in the College of Arts

and Sciences and the School of
Business include Christian

Studies, Education, Leadership
Development and Nursing.

On this 800-acre wooded campus
students are taking learning

outside the classroom.

They're marking trails,
researching wildlife,

and conducting water testing,
and these students are helping

to make strides to improve
our environment.

UM's most common majors
include Performing Arts,

Christian Studies, Fine Arts,
Business, Nursing,

and Education.

The University of Mobile also
requires all students to fulfill

their two religion courses
and one community service

project.

UM's student to teacher
ratio is 13:1.

And the university has
an average class size of 15.

Seventy percent of faculty
members have a PhD

or the highest degree
in their field.

Classes here at the university
are definitely much more

difficult than those
in high school.

But because you're not
just a number or a name

in a small school, you have
one on one attention

with your professors.

I've found professors that I'm
able to really get to know,

and they've helped me
through each step.

And it makes learning easy
when you find someone

that actually cares.

Thirteen men's and women's Ram
athletic teams compete at

the NAIA level in the Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference.

Students majoring in athletic
training programs get hands on

experience with professionals in
their own Rams athletes,

who boast eight national
championships.

There is major school spirit
here at the university.

We have a report that comes out
called the Ram Report.

And there are always listed
various events and games.

And there's always pictures
of different students having

signs and there's so much spirit
going around through campus.

There are five residence halls
at the University of Mobile's

campus.

All unmarried, undergraduate
students under 21 are required

to live in university campus
housing.

The University of Mobile has
many clubs and organizations

to get involved in,
such as performing groups

and honor societies.

Plus there are a variety of
events you can get involved

with on campus, as well,
including concerts, movies,

Ultimate Frisbee, beach trips,
and much more.

In intramurals, we have a very
exciting lineup from softball

to flag football, indoor soccer
and volleyball.

It's a great variety
and lots of fun.

I'm in the Voices of Mobile,
and it's a really high honor

and very exciting to sing
at the White House.

We've also sung in Germany.

We sang in cathedrals,
and we sang in military bases

and high schools.

And I have a lot of unique
experiences that I wouldn't

have gotten somewhere else.

Every Third Wednesday,
University of Mobile's

performing art students
showcase their talents inside.

Let's go inside
and check it out.

Got some love in your heart.

Yes, I'm gonna be a star.

Bah, bah, bah, bah.

Baby, you can drive my car.

If you're a world traveler,
or hope to be one,

you may be excited about UM's
mission program,

which gives college credit for
mission trips around the world,

including summer mission
backpacking through Europe

and UM's honor's program,
which travels to Italy.

Real education is about coming
to know who you are.

And that's about, you're not
gonna see that in brochures.

That is a tangential thing that
I think happens always.

Hopefully when you graduate
here, you're well on your way

to answering that question.

Who am I in relation to God,
to others, to the world?

So if a small Christian private
school with many travel options

is just what you had in mind
for your college experience,

then be sure to check out
the University of Mobile

a little further.

Thanks for joining us here in
Mobile, Alabama on our tour

of the University of Mobile.

I'm Nicole Aaron for

We'll see you real soon.
