What's up? I'm Ferrari St. Paul with Youniversity TV, and you are looking at the beautiful and historic campus of Monmouth University. Are you ready for this tour? 'Cause I'm ready for this tour. Let's go. Monmouth University is located in West Long Branch, New Jersey, just 1 mile from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, and a little over an hour from the exciting cities of New York and Philadelphia. There are events like pretty much every single weekend. Obviously the beach is only a mile away. You can literally walk there. You can ride your bike there. You could the take the train up to the city. [Inaudible] there's a lot of shops. Spring fest just kinda happens right here. Actually, it's like carnival. They hold for everybody. So that's pretty fun. Monmouth sits on 156 acres of beautiful campus, which includes traditional historic grounds, landmark buildings, and state of the art facilities. [Singing] The sun will come out tomorrow. [Background music] Recognize Wilson Hall? A third [inaudible] location for Daddy Warbucks' house in the film adaptation of the musical Annie. It's also the former site of President Woodrow Wilson's Summer White House. Nice dig, huh? And just to across campus from Wilson hall, you'll find the historic Monmouth University Library. It was once the Guggenheim family's summer home. Monmouth is home to about 6000 students from 30 states and 30 countries. Approximately 13 percent of the student body comes from under represented backgrounds. The average class size is 22 with a maximum of 35 students per class. The council for aids education determines that Monmouth University classrooms are some of the best places in the country to study. I smell an A. The average accepted student had a GPA of 3.3, a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1100, or an ACT composite score of 24. We like to let the students that go out and then grab opportunity. We look for leaders at the school or a tagline. At the school is where leaders look forward. Monmouth University is a private institution. So cost do not differ for in-state and out-of-state students, and run approximately 34,000 dollars per year for those who reside on campus, and about 24,000 dollars for commuters. Monmouth offers 31 undergraduate and 20 graduate degrees. The most common academic programs of study are business administration, communications, and education. Some student favorites are software engineering, international business, music industry, and marine environmental biology and policy. We do a lot of lab work in the biology classes and all the sciences. They do a lot of lab works. So they'll be doing a lot of microbiological techniques, working with plates, culturing bacteria, learning sterile techniques. One of the many ways Monmouth separates itself from other universities, is with its experiential education program, AKA internships and other off-campus learning experiences, which students must complete before graduation, giving them a competitive edge when they enter the work force. Several of our student have interned at the white house, at the State Department, the Defense Department, even in Walt Disney where they have done excellent work at getting to know the different activities that go in to producing such films. Faculty at MU are extremely accessible with the student to faculty ratio of 15 to 1, 79 percent of full-time instructors old a PhD or terminal degree. I've been happy with every professor I've had so far. They get really in-depth with each student. My chemistry teacher actually plays [inaudible] soccer with us. They are really eager that they get to know you and not just be your professor but be like your friend too. The hawks are well-established members of the NCAA division 1. Monmouth fields 19 varsity teams that compete in the Northeast Conference. MU athletes frequently rank in the top at NEC tournaments and have produced Olympic gold medal winners, numerous All-Americans and NEC coaches of the year. Everyone loves it when a football game is going on. The basketball games too. People always dressing up blue and white to the games, writing stuff like on the stomach. First year students at MU live in traditional or suite-style residence halls. At Monmouth University, you can attend the top school and enjoy the Jersey shore just minutes away. These beach front apartments are all part of university sponsored off-campus housing. Make your mark in one of the 65 clubs and organizations available to students, whether its student government, Greek life, intramural sports, music, drama, or languages, or wanna start your own club? Many do. I am a big fan of the intramurals. We have everything from kickball to dodge ball. I Like football or softball, with the ball. Ultimate Frisbee. My friend likes to do every one of them right after another. I know when I'm--I first came here, I found that we had a sushi eating club, you know, and that's one of the most unique clubs that I had from my years in college, to right now. Worried about your first year? Don't be. Monmouth University has an office that assists students with their transition from high school to college. It also provides students with resources that guide you through your academic major and your career decisions. They're gonna have the opportunity to use this office to help with that transition. They're gonna watch over them, helping them pick their courses, you know, even try to help them decide on a major. So if you're looking for a midsized university with a nationally recognized faculty, state of the art facilities, and a superb athletic program that's close to the beach and NYC? Monmouth University may be perfect for you. Well, that's the end of our tour. Thanks for hanging out in West Long Branch, New Jersey at Monmouth University. I'm Ferrari St. Paul and I'll check you later. [ Music ]
