Hey, what's up guys? Thanks for watching YOUniversity TV. We are at Jacksonville State University. 

 Today we're making our way through campus and we hope you join us. I'm Nicole Aaron. 

 And I'm Shena. 

 Let's go. 

 Jacksonville State University is located in the foothills of Appalachian Mountains in Northeast Alabama, just 90 minutes from bustling Atlanta, Georgia. A short 30 minutes from campus is the state's highest point Mount Chena which is the great spot for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. 

 What I think makes Jacksonville State University unique is the location of where it is. It's not far from Chatanuga, Tennessee, Birmingham, Alabama, but it's cradled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. National parks everywhere around here, it's beautiful landscaping. 

 We have highest mountain in the state. We have the deepest canyon. We are in lots of activities and hikes and also there's a plenty of opportunity for outdoor. 

 There are motocross, there's a motocross track that's right down the road, also fishing, hiking, mountain biking, you get outside and do stuff. 

 From the top of the nearby chimney peak some 1700 feet above the sea level, you can get a true birds eye view that 459 acres campus with its 59 major building. 

 JSU has over 9000 students, which are 60% women and 40% men. 

 I chose to come to JSU because of the small campus, it's a friendly campus and I have really realized that there is lot of opportunities. 

 Press and review has ranked our college of business as the number 2 college in the United States as opportunities for women. 

 If you have an ACT score of 19 or higher or combined SAT of 900 and up you've a good chance of being accepted here. 

 JSU's tuition is around $5000 for Alabama residence and $10000 for out of staters. If you wish to reside on campus, add about $4000 for room and board. 

 We have a lot of money that are available to students in scholarships and financial aid and a lot of times the students don't realize that. They just need to, to ask about it. 

 Undergraduates can choose from over 70 majors including computer or electronic technology and emergency management. 

 We have a large number of labs and they're available all times of day and night. It's very, very freely given and I've also been the faculty on some large universities where we just restricted either to graduate students or certain times that if we can, we have pretty much unlimited availability for our technology resources. 

 JSU features a creative and challenging drama programs. That requires all students who work in every area of theater production. 

 As well as get experience with summer stuff or outdoor drama, at least one summer during their time here. 

 There are over 450 professors at Jacksonville State and 63% have a doctorate, first professional, or other terminal degree. 

 My professors are very available. They have office time posted and if you need extra time beyond those times, they're always willing and ready. A lot of people just gave me the cell phone numbers, places to contact them, contact them at home if you wanted to. 

 JSU's 16 athletic game [inaudible] teams competed the NCAA division 1 level. 

 One notable game talk of all night is Ashley Martin. She was the first female who ever stood up, played, and scored a field goal for NCAA division 1 college football. Nicole go along. 

 School field was amazing. I mean they loved their football down here. They love their sports in general, the school spirit was just off the meters. 

 Jacksonville State University provides eight residence halls, five apartment complexes, and two specialty housing units for those students looking to live on campus. 

 I lived in the dorm for two years and I was, I was a shy and nervous guy and just being introduced to so many kinds of people you learn just to find yourself not only just as a student but as a person. 

 Did you know that there are over 100 university recognized student organizations on JSU's campus including Honor Societies and Student Media Groups. 

 Main fraternities we have extracurricular activities such as intramurals that's where you just play all the other fraternities and sororities and just have fun. A lot of times we'll have mixers, just kind of like well get the other parties. We do a lot of events, so I've met a lot of friends through my fraternity. 

 For over 50 years, JSU has been home for the Marching Southerners. This band has been featured at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and the Rose Ball. 

 In 1946, JSU founded the international health program with five students from France. Today there are over 40 members of the program with 20 Americans paired with 20 international students from around the world. 

 It's a kind of a, it's got a nice local kind of a small school feel to it, but it's got some you know some good academics and its just [inaudible] campus and place to be.
