Hey guys, what's up, I'm Shanna Jean, and this is University TV where we put you and University. Today we are touring the campus of Drury University; it's a private four-year institution that dedicates itself to preparing their students to become citizens of the world. Drury is located in Springfield, Missouri, which is the third largest city in the state and has plenty of cool stuff for college students to do. We are in the heart of downtown, midtown area and this is where our students love to go every Friday. There are a lot of restaurants and clubs and activities for students to be involved in and really is walking distance from the University. Springfield is a big, small town that offers everything from arts and entertainment opportunities like theatre, opera, and performing arts to outdoor activities like rock climbing, hiking, biking, and golf. Drury's eighty-eight acre campus feels like an Ivy League school that puts historic architecture and although surrounded by downtown Springfield it's still sheltered from the urban hustle and bustle of the city. Drury enrolls about five thousand students and sixteen hundred of them are full time undergrads. I know you know that a lot of students are trying to chose between you know a larger school or a smaller school, I know I looked at both, I really discovered how important it was that I wasn't treated like a number, that I was treated like a person, that's what makes me like Drury so much. The student population is 53% female to 47% male representing thirty-four states and thirty countries. Drury University attracts some of the best students out there. Our admission standards are certainly selective however, we really pride ourselves on looking at the whole person, we'd like to see at least a twenty-one on an ACT score, we are looking for a three-five or better GPA, we want to see students who are heavily involved in their community, involved in their church, involved academically. Looking to a higher power to help you pass your test? Come study at the Philosophers Table, legend has it if you study here at this wooden table hard enough, seven stages will help you score an A. Drury is consistently near the top of the list in the U.S news and world report, great schools at great prices category and tuition is approximately $18,000 per academic year. Room and board costs and additional $6500 per year. Drury offers over seventy majors and academic programs allowing students many choices to find an exciting career path that's right for them. Some of the strongest ones that draw students here are our architectural program, our business program, our communications and criminology programs too. Classes average just nineteen students each allowing for excellent hands-on learning. When I came to Drury and I started learning about their program and the opportunity that I have to actually explore the different areas and find out what it is that I really like and have passion to do. I have taken a class of communication, I'm taking a class in theatre, acting right now has nothing to do with my business major however, it's one of my favorite classes. Drury's global perspectives for the twenty-first century program or GP21 gives students insight into contemporary world problems and challenges while preparing them to become world citizens; in fact each Drury graduate earns a minor in global studies. You know the professors here really encourage you to study abroad; I'm going to be studying in London next fall. We have the GP21 program where you know you take global studies classes so they want you to not just have your own major but you prepare to know what's going on in the world around you. Drury's facility consists of only the best, an amazing 95% of them have a PhD or the highest degree in their field plus with an extremely low 13 to 1 study to facility ratio Drury students have a chance to work closely with their professors to learn more about their chosen field. There are countless of activities for you to dive into at Drury, Division Two sports are just one of the ways to get involved. Drury students have more than ninety organizations to choose from on campus. Their students and Free Enterprise Team is a two-time world champion. I think there are like thirty or forty on campus organizations, Greek and otherwise to get involved with. There are so many clubs; there are so many organizations, no matter what your interests are. There's the outdoor club, there's the Anime Addicts club, there's just everything. Nearly 56% of students live on campus which is required unless they commute from home and 80% of freshmen live on campus. I live in the upper classman housing College Park and because we have our own ovens and kitchens and things, a lot of us do a sort of potluck and every week we'll go to somebody else's apartment and bring something and eat and watch movies and catch up on stuff. Come on down! Did you know legendary game show host Bob Barker is Drury Alum and here's a sneak peak back at Bob back in 1947. If the thought of becoming a leading future world citizen at a school with highly qualified professors that offers a high caliber education appeals to you then be sure to check out Drury University today. Thanks for hanging out with us today here in Springfield, Missouri home of Drury University, I'm Shanna Jean and I'm out. [ Music ]
