Youniversity TV coming to you from beautiful Atlanta, Georgia. I'm Lavon.

And I'm Chloe, and were getting ready to take a tour of Emory University. Come on.

Emory is located in Atlanta Georgia, which is one of the top 5 fastest growing cities in the country. The university is just a few miles from the road to Atlanta's upbeat midtown and downtown hotspots [inaudible] opportunities.

Its great that Emory is inside of Atlanta, because we have a great campus here, but it's also great to get off campus because there's so much to do there. I've gone to Atlanta Ballet, I saw The Nutcracker with some friends last year.

Emory is also close to the eclectic restaurants and shops, plus music and dance clubs are what the nearby suburbs have to offer.

The aquarium is amazing. There's world of cokes, so there's lot of touristy things to do downtown.

There are a lot of little communities and neighborhoods that people go to.

There's also lots of shopping and good restaurants and [inaudible].

Emory's campus cover 630 acres, 55% percent of which is being put aside for largely forested land, and protected green space.

If you're concerned about the environment, you'll be pleased to know that Emory's campus is top ranked in the US for having many certified green buildings.

We're standing in the organic garden, which is part of Emory's effort to get 75% of food on campus from sustainable resources within the next ten years.

Emory I known for its green campus, in terms of trees and in terms of saving energy. Now you can see students and faculty on foot, on bikes. And emory is also a leader in having certified green buildings. It is really easy being green.

Emory enrolls more than 5,000 undergraduate students and is also very diverse.

We're about 50% minority in our pool of students for undergraduate program.

Emory is highly selective in their admissions process.

This year we had about 17,450 applications for a class of about 1,270. Our range on the SAT is about 1,300 to 1,460, ACT 29-33, average GPA is about a 3.7.

Tuition for all students is $36,000 per year with roughly an additional $14,000 in room and board, plus fees. Emory awards 55 million dollars annually in scholarships and aid to undergraduate students. And 44% of undergrads received financial aid.

Emory has more than 75 majors, 50 minors, 9 combined bachelors and master's degrees, and 10 pre professional programs. Some of the most popular majors include; business, political science, neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral biology.

Everyone comes into Emory in the Liberal arts program inside Emory College. And then if you decide you want to go to the business school you apply to enter. Either in the middle of sophomore year if you have enough credits, or most usually in between sophomore and junior year.

Students can also choose from over 2,000 internships around Atlanta or 8,000 across the country.

Well one really interesting experience I had was my study abroad opportunity. I was invited to study abroad in South Africa, and I went to Cape Town for 5 weeks, and Johannesburg for 1 week. And while I was in Cape Town I had an internship, and I worked at NOAH, Neighborhood Old Age Home.

Check this out. Emory allows students to dial right into the research. Freshman are given the unique opportunity to partner with a faculty member and assist them with ongoing research in order to encourage their own research and funding.

Emory has a really good track record for getting undergraduates involved in research and the primary people who work in my lab are undergraduate and graduate students.

Emory's student to faculty ratio is 7:1. And by the way, a solid 99% of faculty hold a PhD or a terminal degree.

The professors have office hours which you might not have needed to do in high school but which you definitely need to do in college. The professors are very ,very available.

Although Swoop the eagle might be the official mascot. Duly the skeleton is Emory's unofficial mascot and his presence is always known on campus. Parties and celebration take place in hi9s honor. Students favorite tradition though, is when Duly lets them out of class randomly.

They say presidents may come and presidents may go. Professors may come, and professors do to. Students may come, and students may go.

 But Duly lives on forever.

Emory houses more than 60% of students on campus, and offers a variety of housing options.

It has been amazing. The people are great, the social life. We actually bonded really well. I don't know if other, other, freshman dorms are the same, but we bonded very closely. My dorm is like my family.

In case you weren't aware, there are freshman residence halls under constructions in addition to some newly completed facilities.

Its got opportunities. Emory University definitely does. They have over 250 organizations, teams, and clubs for students to choose from. They have the Emory Wheel, they're paper, and even secret societies.

18 Emory Eagle varsity sports teams compete at the division 3 level, and are consistently ranked among the best in the NCAA competition. Emory holds the world record for the world's largest non-alcoholic beverage toast. Students raise a glass o cola to celebrate convocation and graduation on this quad each year. I'll drink to that.

If you are looking for a medium sized, environmentally conscious university, with rigorous academics, located in one of the fastest growing cities in the US. Then be sure to check out Emory University.

We really hope you enjoyed your tour of Emory university.

They really know how to show some southern hospitality. I'm Chloe.

 I'm Lavon. Catch you soon.
