Biola's campus rests on the border of Orange County and Los Angeles, California, just a short drive from the beach and close to attractions like Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm.
Disneyland is about 15 minutes away, so a lot of students will get Disneyland passes and go on the weekends or after class sometimes. The beach is 30 minutes away. Downtown LA is really close, Hollywood, the whole music scene.
There's tons of art museums. There's the Getty, there's the MOCA, the LACMA, tons of different ones you could possibly go to. Again, the beach, the mountains, the desert. You can rock climb, you can surf, you can snowboard, go see movies. Potentially see celebrities. I saw Jerry Seinfeld in a restaurant in few weeks back, so lots of stuff to do.
Biola University's campus is spread out across 95 acres, and offers more than 1 million square feet of space in 40 major buildings, several of which have been built or renovated in the past decade.
Biola University has a student body of more than 5,800 students, of which about 4,000 are undergraduates. The male to female ratio is 38% men to 62% women.
Biola is also diverse with minority and international students making up about one third of the population.
Each year more than 1,000 new freshmen and transfer students come to Biola seeking a biblically centered education.
In order to be considered for admission at Biola, you must be an evangelical believer in the Christian faith, have at least a 3.0 GPA and a 920 SAT Reading/Math score or an ACT composite score of at least 19.
The application components are an online application, which includes an essay kind of about a student's spiritual and academic growth within the past 3 or 4 years, basically the years in high school. We also have supplementary references like a pastoral reference. Of course, transcripts from high school, SAT or ACT scores.
All students can expect to pay around $24,000 for one year of tuition, plus room and board is roughly $7,000 more.
At Biola, you have your pick from 145 academic program and 35 majors, including Business Administration, Psychology, Liberal Studies, Cinema and Media Arts, Intercultural Studies and Biblical and Theological Studies.
They go out and they find a job that's in the area of psychology, for example. They're working with children, they're working with runaway kids. Actually, they're out working in a variety of places. They report back that what they got here was the training and the experience that they need to do very well, and to succeed in all of those areas.
Speaking of theology and the Bible, all students are required to take 30 units of Biblical studies, as well as attend Chapel three times a week, and must be involved in student ministry.
These are the original bells from the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, and today symbolize Biola's past and future. Biola's staff of educators is made up of nationally educated scholars, accomplished researchers and dedicated servants, all of whom are Bible-believing Christians.
Biola is also recognized for its consistently low faculty to student ratio of 17 to 1.
One of my favorite things about Biola is how, how available my professors are, because they always have office hours, and they'll be willing to even just stay after class and help you out. We email back and forth a lot. I've had professors like invite the whole class over to their house for dinner and things like that. So it's really personable.
Last fall, actually, we were watching Movieland night and I looked over on the couch was Professor Weathers, who teaches Nature and Math, and he was just hanging out on our dorm room with us. So a lot of interaction with the professors. The professors really want to get to know you, become a part of your life, and, yeah, help you grow.
If you like sports, Biola University has them. Seventeen men's and women's Eagle athletic teams represent Biola at the NAIA level in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Looking to stay close to class? Biola has 10 residence halls and apartments for students looking to make their address on campus.
We require all students to live in the dorms for the first two years..
I absolutely love it. I've, I lived there last year, I live there this year, and I'm planning to living there again next year. There's just so many fun activities always going on. This weekend, for example, we went on a floor retreat, which is my floor of 50 girls we actually went camping down in San Clemente. So that's just an example of one really fun thing that the dorms do.
Biola University also has a professional Residence Life Staff, who will work with you to organize Bible studies, provide peer counseling if needed, and help you make the best of your college living experience.
Worried about having nothing to do on a Friday night? Well, a popular activity in these residence halls is Get Your Roommate Date, where the floors plan activities like going to the beach, ice-skating or a themed event for people to meet.
There are over 40 clubs currently on campus, from Acting on AIDS to the Royal Dart Society. Whether you're interested in TV, print or radio, you can get involved with Biola student publications. Get ready for Hollywood. The Biola Film Festival allows students to tap into their creative resources, or to just simply allow them to sit back, relax and enjoy the student made production.

Biola University recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, meaning that they've been committed to Bible-centered education, scholarship and service in the Southern California area for a whole century.
The, the spiritual life and growth and development that happened on campus at Biola is, it was really life transforming. That's really, what stood out to me as I was looking in different schools.
So, if an institution founded on a Biblically centered education and career preparation appeals to you, then be sure to check out Biola University.
Well, that's it for us in La Mirada, California.
