Loyola Marymount is located in Los Angeles, California, about 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and has convenient access to downtown LA, Santa Monica, and many other great Southern California locations and attractions.

The West Los Angeles is a very beautiful area. And the thing that's very convenient about the campus is about a 10-minute drive to LA exit. It's about a 10-minute drive to the beaches. You're very close to Venice and Santa Monica.

Loyola Marymount was even named one of the 10 most beautiful campuses by the Princeton Review.

You'll be able to enjoy the moderate climate and cool breezes this great location has to offer along with an open and green campus which features both traditional and contemporary architecture.

It's a beautiful setting, you know, you can see the ocean from the campus. You can see the mountains from the campus. Every year you hear about students who went skiing and surfing the same day.

Loyola Marymount enrolls a total of 8,500 students including 5,500 undergrads. The student body is diverse with minority students making up about 42 percent of the population. LMU is a highly selective institution.

Most of the students will be, you know, A minus averages and pretty good test scores and things like that. But even there, there's a great deal of variety because while those things are important we understand that that's not all there is to student's preparation of all they bring to the campus when they enroll here.

If you're looking to apply to Loyola Marymount, you need an average GPA of 3.65 to enter and an SAT within the range of 1060 to 1250. Tuition for all students runs a little over 32,000 dollars per year. In addition, room and board costs run between 9,000 and 11,000 per year depending on residence hall and which meal plan you select. You can choose from 45 majors and over 80 programs of study that are available to undergrad students at Loyola Marymount University.

You know, there are a lot of classes you know are required to take, their core, and you know, some of them I'm like always, "Oh, you know, science, you know, it's not my--it's not my area of expertise and it's tough, but I feel like just I know as an overall mature person that I wanna grow up to be, I'm gonna be more well-rounded."

Grad students may choose from 29 master's degrees, 1 doctoral degree, and 15 credential programs. Loyola Marymount's most popular majors are Psychology, Biology, Management and Communication Studies. And LMU offers strong programs in the liberal arts, business, science and engineering, visual and performing arts, and film and television.

I start my first day of class and I say, "I'm an old entrepreneur. I'm in the manufacturing business, still I manufacture yuppies. And that's what I'm gonna try and make out of you or you can go out and start your own business, create your own thing and control your own destiny in the future."

Loyola Marymount offers so many classes that they employ over 400 full-time faculty; 90 percent of which hold PhDs or other terminal degrees.

The faculty is incredible especially the young faculty. Now we have done a tremendous job of recruiting all kinds of different faculty. They're very impressive.

The average undergrad class size is 19, allowing students to enjoy easy access to their professors and close interaction in the classroom.

It's only about 5,500 undergrads, which means you're a class with maybe 15 to 20 max students, and that really gives time for the teachers to really get to know you, and you have more of a better relationship with them and your peers. And that's why I think I get to know my teachers and I really do. I res--you know, they respect me and I respect them a lot more because they actually know me, I'm actually at phase.

Like sports? If so, be sure to check out one of 19 Loyola Lions men's and women's athletic team. They compete at the Division 1 level in the West Coast Conference. Right now, I'm sitting here with the championship men's water polo team of Loyola.

LMU offers 20 student residences. Many built within the last 10 years and provide housing for over 3,000 students. Residents have their choice of traditional residence halls, suites, and on-campus apartments. Some rooms even have ocean views.

Well living in a freshman's dorm is I think is definitely important, and I did that, and it's crazy and it's, you know, sometimes messy as [laughter] people. You really get a sense of community there. You get to meet new friends.

You know, we'd have dorm wars where we do catch the flag and things like that and that was great.

Do you want variety, diversity, and your picking activities? With 132 clubs and organizations, student life at LMU offers something for everyone.

I do a lot of theater productions at LMU. I'm also--I've been on the debate team for 4 years, which has been honestly, one of the biggest blessings I could have had at LMU. It's allowed me to travel to Oxford England and debate there, and travel to Trinity in Dublin, Ireland, and all these amazing places that I would have never had the chance to go probably.

Did you know that in 2007, Loyola Marymount was named "Hottest for Hispanics" by Newsweek? Wow, I can feel the heat all the way over here.

We're all handsome, suave, sexy and debonair, and wonderful.

--or that LMU was also recently ranked among the top best universities with masters programs in the west by US News and World Report? So if a diverse medium-sized college is what you're looking for to spice up your intellectual life, be sure to look further into Loyola Marymount University.

Thanks for joining us here in Los Angeles, California on our campus tour of Loyola Marymount University. I'm Sheana Jeanne and I'll see you real soon.
