How to do college right the first time

Students21

You are getting ready to graduate from High School, what decisions are you preparing to make? Is going to college an option you are considering? If not, I hope to persuade you to absolutely consider applying to school and hopefully by reading this you can learn from my experience.
I graduated from High School and immediately started attending college. However, I had no idea what I really wanted to study, which is actually pretty common. I took classes that were interesting and I loved going to school and learned so much, but never earned my degree. I got married and because of the cost of schooling I decided not to continue with my education, a decision I really regret today. Before we knew here we are with three young children and the desire to return to school is still heavy in the back of my mind. It is not impossible to go to school once you have children, however, it is a bit more difficult.
So what can you learn from me? The first lesson I hope to convey is to do some research before you start school. There are counselors in your High School that can help you with a lot of information regarding different careers available. Also, after applying to school you can meet with counselors from the college that will show you the programs available and provide you with information that can help you a lot in your decision. The next thing you need to learn is that even though education may seem costly there are so many financial aid options available making that excuse pretty obsolete. There are also many, many opportunities to gain scholarships and doing a little research in those areas can be very rewarding.
I urge you to apply to school and get your education now it will be so much easier than if you wait. The benefits from an education far outweigh the time and investment you will put into getting your degree. Apply to the schools you are interested in and I am sure that once you meet with the counselors there you will be pleasantly surprised at how exciting education is and at the future you can have.
Do you need that extra boost to help you in the decision to apply to school or go back to college? Here is a list of a few facts about college degrees and the impact they will have on your future,
· Areas of the world that have higher levels of education have less poverty and are more safe than areas that do not.
· A college degree will give you a higher sense of satisfaction and happiness.
· A person with a college degree will have a higher income on average than someone who does not.
· A person with a college degree is more likely to be involved in their community.
· If you have a college degree you are more likely to get a job with good health care benefits.
· A person with a college degree works less hours to sustain their household on average than someone who does not.
I could go on and on, but really the decision is up to you. If you want to improve your future the answer is a college degree. Make that step and apply to school today and start seeing the great impact an education will have on you.
