Sick Again?

The one main reason why I don't like winter? I get sick so easily! I'm sick again, and it really sucks. Yesterday, I thought I was feeling okay and I went to school but then almost fainted in my first period class so I went home early. I slept all day which really helped and today I'm being really careful to make sure I eat a full breakfast, stay hydrated throughout the day and eat lunch. Also, today was the last day of Model Congress! Which is good because I'm tired of doing MC...it was such a long project! haha! I hope I get an okay grade on it. Okay, well I gotta go for now!

Model Congress in the Auditorium

Today is the final day of Model Congress! That means that we're in the auditorium and I am SO glad that my bill didn't get passed to this stage! haha! We go through each bill one at a time and the writer of the bill has to go speak about their bill and argue for it against anybody who has something to say. What I just figured out...everybody has to say atleast one thing, which means that you have to go up to the microphone and voice your opinion. AH! haha...I have MC again during Flex, so I guess I'll try to find something that I can say. I would rather voice my opinion on something than ask a question though because then it turns into a debate.

I woke up this morning expecting it to be a bad day because I'm starting to feel a little sick and I'm afraid that I have the flu. (My mom just got over the flu) So I'm hoping that that isn't what I'm coming down with! On top of that, I have my 3rd day of Model Congress today and I today is the day that my bill is passed or killed--deciding whether or not I have to present on stage in the auditorium next class! EEKS! haha! Buttt...I got to school, went through first period AP Gov, and found out that my bill was killed so I don't have to speak on stage! All I have to do is dress up! Which is the fun part! :) AND THEN...I went to journalism, which is my next class and saw my best friend checking some of her application statuses so I figured, since today is the beginning of the cycle and we dont' have anything to do, why not? And guess what? I'M ACCEPTED TO PENN STATE UNIVERSITY PARK! haha! I'm not sure if that's where I want to go but it's a very good school and I wasn't sure if I was going to get in there so atleast now I know that I'm definitely going to a good school that isn't right next to my house! AH! I'm so excited!!

It's finally Friday! I really thought that it would never come! I did my presentation today in Anatomy on the Ultrasound Manager that I interviewed for my career portfolio...it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! Also this week I managed to completely catch myself up in all of my classes from what I missed before winter break from being sick! Now I finally get to relax over the weekend! haha! Besides the fact that I have to read about 200 pages of Jane Eyre for AP Lit. alt haha! But I'll be able to get it done, I usually do!

Model Congress

This week has been really rough with coming back from winter break, which was a record of two weeks long! (With an extra 3 sick days at the beginning for me!) haha! So on Monday, it really felt as though I hadn't been in school forever and senioritis hit me hard! haha! By Tuesday, I had started to get into the swing of things and started my first day of Model Congress in my AP Government class. What we do is pair up with one other government class that is during the same period as us and basically imitate the process through which a bill is passed. Every student was assigned a state and district for which they had to write a bill (I was Massachusetts District 8) then you had to write a bill for your state/district. The students of each classes are split according to whether they believe themselves to be Democrats or Republicans. Then three leaders: The Speaker of the House, The Majority Leader, and the Minority Whip and chosen from both the Democrats and the Republicans. These leaders take everyones bills and divide them into different committees and then assign each committee a committee leader. I'm my committee's leader. We all got together with our committees and had to go through each of the bills that were in our committee folder and decide as group if we wanted to pass it or "kill" it; if we pass it then it goes back to the group of leaders (The Speaker of the House, etc.) and they decide whether or not to pass it or kill it. If THEY pass it then it goes to the final stage which is going to be in our school auditorium and the writers of the bills whose were passed have to stand in front of both classes, describe and defend their bill in order to get a majority vote from everybody. haha..it seems like a long process but it's going by fast and my bill has been passed once already! I'm hoping that it doesn't make it passed the next stage because I really don't want to argue for it in the auditorium. alt

TWO DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! I'm so excited! haha! It's so amazing being on winter break and finally being able to relax a little bit! All I can think about is the fact that when I go back to school, the first semester will be ending and that means that my senior year is half way over! ALREADY! I can't believe it! I makes me feel so nervous even though I'm so excited! haha! The last semester is going to go by so fast! and my decisions from the rest of my schools are going to be all coming in within the next 2-3 months! I can't believe how fast it all went by! haha! On another note though, I've been saving my money and I'm going to get my belly button pierced! alt haha! I'm so scared but I've heard that it doesn't hurt that bad and it's really fast so I can't wait to get it done! Hopefully I'll get it done before the end of winter break but I'm not sure because I need a little bit more money, so I'll have to wait and see what happens! AH! haha! alt

-Until later,
