New York Times bestselling author Donald Miller will give a free lecture on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the George A. Batte, Jr. Fine Arts Center on the Wingate University campus. Miller kicks off the speaker series for the University, which plans many speakers and cultural events for the campus and community throughout the school year. Miller lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Author of many books, including Through Painted Deserts about his travels across America in a Volkswagen van; Blue Like Jazz that remained more than 40 weeks on the NY Times Bestseller list and Father Fiction about growing up without a father. While writing Father Fiction, he started a mentoring program for volunteers to serve as mentors for boys without fathers, an initiative where he continues to devote time and energy. His most recent book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years – What I Learned While Editing My Own Life has also hit the NY Times Bestseller list. He will hold a book signing as part of his lecture at Wingate.
CNN has called him a “Christian celebrity.” Miller has appeared in TV programs, including NPR’s Tavis Smiley and Fox News’ The Strategy Room. He has spoken at the Veritas Forum at Harvard and at Chic-fil-a’s national corporate conference.
