Hey guys, welcome to Big Sweet Tavern. How are you? Good, thanks. I'm Shauna and today's special is restaurant manager. Why don't you guys come check it out with me. Restaurant manager Nick Consa [assumed spelling] has his hands full keeping his guests happy. Once you're open for business, you're totally focused on your customers, and your guests. Your 100 percent of attention is to that, to the details, to food coming out, to the time that that guests leave the restaurant, you attention has to be 100 percent on them. Besides making sure the guests are happy and the food is served on time, restaurant managers have more on their plate. You got to prepare the restaurant for the day. You have to enter all your invoices that you get, you. You know you can order anywhere from 40 to 60,000 dollars worth of product every week. Wow. Between liquor and, and food products. Restaurant managers are the first to arrive in the morning, and the last to leave at night. 60 to 70 hours a week? Yeah. Is that typical for a restaurant manager? It is. Shifts normally consist of, our manager's schedule normally consists of five, 10 to 12 hour shifts a week. So you're looking at about a 60-hour week. If that schedule doesn't scare you off, then a degree in hospitality management services is recommended. The front of the house managers, and back of the house managers, are not required by law to have any university degrees. It's always beneficial. We are required though to have a save food handlers certificate. Nick also suggests getting experience in the field. Go into a restaurant, get a job in a restaurant. Whether it's busing tables or washing dishes. Get your feet in the door. Get a feel for what actually goes on inside the restaurant. Once you have that experience, you can pound the pavement and find yourself a job. There's, there's everything from the small mom and pop diner to large international corporations worldwide. Because jobs are located throughout the country, the opportunities are good for restaurant managers. There's always job opportunities open in this field. There's restaurants, some restaurants go. But if a restaurant is there for three or four years, you know it's going to stick around. So, you've landed the job. How much are you going to make? Restaurant manager can look at anywhere from 25 to 35,000 dollars entry-level position. With experience you can look anywhere from 35 to 45,000. You can expect to spend a lot of time on your feet. So stamina is very important for a restaurant manager. But that's not all Nick suggests. You need to be very patient. You need to be flexible, understanding, accommodating, and your main priority has to be at all times customer satisfaction. That looks amazing. Wow. That career made me so hungry, and I hope it made you guys hungry for more. Thanks for watching University TV. Later. [ Music ]
